SERMON: Cindy Dawson
“In the Flesh”
SCRIPTURE: 1 John 4:1-6

CONGRATULATIONS to Tyson & Christi Voelkel on the birth of their daughter Violet Elyce Voelkel. Violet was welcomed home by big sister Eliana.

CONGRATULATIONS also go to Brian & Emily Ford on the birth of their daughter Jenna Greyson Ford. Jenna was born on July 29th and is welcomed home by big sisters Julia & Audra and big brother Alan.

THE FRIENDS CHORALE will begin rehearsals on August 17th at 5:30 p.m. Those interested in learning more about the Friends Chorale are invited to our “reading session.” This will be a time to read and listen to the music for the upcoming season. Music will not be distributed–it will just be an opportunity to explore this possibility. Reading music is not required, but being able to learn and sing a part is required. Please contact Becky Towne for more information.

THE WOMEN’S MINISTRY TEAM AND THE MISSIONS TEAM are working together on a special project – a new church cookbook which will raise funds for missions. We need your help in 2 ways. First, we will be collecting recipes to include in the book through August 11th. Please pick up several recipe collection sheets from the kiosk and provide us with some of your favorite recipes. Follow the instructions on the form and return the sheets to Dana Stanfield, Shanna Kirkpatrick, or the church office. Then, think about how many books you would like to purchase, for yourself, your family, for Christmas gifts, etc. There is a place on the recipe form to pre-order cookbooks, which will be a great help in planning quantities. We expect the books to arrive in early October. The cost will be $15, with all profits going to missions.
WE WOULD LIKE YOUR INPUT concerning our Summer Sundays worship experience this summer. The pastoral staff welcomes feedback about what you have appreciated or missed during our one-worship-service experiment. Also, you can fill out a brief survey on our web site that allows you to give us feedback. Thanks for your participation!
MARK YOUR CALENDAR for Wednesday, August 20th and plan to take part in our trip to Schlitterbahn Galveston! Everyone is welcome – adults, teens, and children (kids 7 & under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.) We will meet in the church parking lot at 9 a.m. and return about 4:30 p.m. Contact Janet Black or the church office to reserve your discount tickets while they last – $30 for kids from 3-11 years old and $32 for ages 12 and up.

LOANER VEHICLE NEEDED: Our missionaries to Hong Kong, Jack and Celesta Rea, are making plans for a transition this fall. They will be using Friendswood as a home base at least temporarily while continuing to work with OMS through quarterly trips to Hong Kong as well as travel throughout the U.S. Our church is trying to help make arrangements for temporary housing, storage and transportation for the Reas during their transition period. Jack and Celesta hope to borrow a vehicle during their initial visit to Friendswood, from October 7th through 16th, and then again from November 20th through December. If you can help with a loaner vehicle for ANY portion of that time, please contact the church office or email Janis Street.

REMINDER: The church office will be closed on Tuesdays this summer through August 19th.
