In addition, we are also inviting you to bring a package of diapers or baby wipes to donate to the Center for Pregnancy in Friendswood. Please contact Amy Bivins if you have any questions.
LADIES, stop by the kiosk to pick up a brochure for our 2015 Women’s Retreat – Living Water. We will return to Camp Tejas, February 6th-8th. Our speaker this year will be Rochelle Bridges and Lauren Niscavits will return as our worship leader. The cost is $200 if your registration form and $100 deposit are received in the church office by January 7th. After that date, the price increases to $220. If you have any questions, please contact Amy Bivins.
SUMMIT PARTY FUNDRAISER: In place of the Thanksgiving Dinner Auction this year, we are trying something different! Several people will be hosting themed parties throughout the coming year. If you would like to attend, signup sheets along with pricing information and spaces available for each party event are located in the Coffee Cafe. This will be a great way for us to have fun and spend time together! All proceeds will go to help send young adults to the national Friends Summit gathering this Christmas. Thanks for your help and donations! For more info, contact email@example.com.
THIS ADVENT SEASON we will be participating in the Advent Conspiracy which is characterized by four founding principles: Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More and Love All. The Advent Conspiracy movement’s message is to avoid getting caught up in the consumerism surrounding the holiday in order to celebrate Christmas as it should be—a joyous celebration of Jesus’ birth that enriches our hearts and the world around us, not a retail circus that depletes our pocketbooks and defeats our spirits. In keeping with this message our special projects this year will be focused on the EFM Christmas brochure and bus token funds for the Crossroads at Park Place ministry. Look for more information in next week’s bulletin.
COAT/BLANKET DRIVE We will be collecting new or gently used coats, sleeping bags, backpacks and blankets to be taken to the Crossroads at Park Place shelter. A Crossroads drop box is located in the Coffee Café. If you would be interested in helping deliver the coats and blankets, Darleen Latimer is seeking volunteers to go with her on Thursday mornings and would be glad to meet others at the church to carpool. Also, volunteers will be needed on Tuesday, November 25th, when Crossroads will hold their Thanksgiving meal.
JOIN US for our annual Christmas caroling and hayride on Tuesday, December 2nd. We will meet for pizza at 4:30 p.m. in the Coffee Café then load up the hay wagons at 5 p.m. and head out to sing Christmas carols around town & then join in the festivities at the Brown Museum tree lighting event at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to participate; but children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Come make some memories and ride over the creeks and through the wood – rain, snow, shine, cold or warm! Please contact Janet Black at 281-482-7821 or firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP for the pizza dinner.
IN 2015 WE INVITE YOU to a focused worship experience that includes a commitment to personal daily worship, small group exercises and corporate worship on Sundays all focused around the same theme. We invite you to utilize the “Blue Book” for your daily devotionals (a book based on other devotionals from the Upper Room), and then join a group on Sunday mornings led by Joe Roher that will continue teaching, prayer and worship based on the theme from the week. Our worship services each Sunday will also be focused on the weekly theme from the “Blue Book,” so if you participate in the devotionals throughout the week, and/or the Sunday morning group, Sunday morning’s worship may become a richer experience for you. The objective is to develop personal daily worship habits as well as develop community by worshipping with others who are committed to the same daily devotional texts. Contact the church office to purchase your copy of the Blue Book ($10). The Sunday morning class will begin meeting at 9:30 a.m. on January 4th. For more information, contact Joe Roher or Everrett and Karen Jantz. The Blue Book readings and scriptural texts (along with podcasts) will also be published at bluebookstudy.com. You can check samples of the readings on that site now.
