Sermon: Jason Porterfield
“Participating In God’s Life-Giving Mission”

THE FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR TODAY are are given with thanksgiving for all of the blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon us. – Rick, Sandra, Robyn & Nelda Schell

THE CHURCH OFFICE will close at noon on Wednesday, November 25th and remain closed November 26th & 27th for Thanksgiving.

THE GARAGE SALE was a success in many ways with our raising over $7,000. We still have some very nice furniture and vintage items to sell. Over the course of the week, 60 people volunteered to make the sale the success that it was. The shared stories, laughs and fellowship were every bit as much treasures as the money we made! Perhaps at the next garage sale, we should have a small “What could this be?” table, as we had so much fun trying to figure out what a handful of items were. God blessed us with a fabulous week, and our coming together as a Christian community was one of its greatest blessings! Thank you so very much for giving so generously! In Christ, Diane Leaverton

REMINDER: Our Thanksgiving dinner takes place in the Coffee Café at 5 p.m. today. If you missed getting tickets you are welcome to come at about 5:30 to enjoy dessert and the youth dinner auction.

REMINDER: The youth will be holding a dinner auction to help raise funds for their travel to Tulsa, OK for “reGeneration” today immediately following our Thanksgiving dinner. Stop by the Coffee Café this morning to bid on a wide variety of beautiful gift baskets & gift cards available in the silent auction. Then come back for the dinner to bid on fun and exciting planned dinners and events.

JOIN US for our annual Christmas caroling and hayride on Tuesday, December 1st. We will meet for free pizza (donations will be accepted) at 4:30 p.m. in the Coffee Café then load up the hay wagons at 5 p.m. and head out to sing Christmas carols around town & then join in the festivities at the Brown Museum tree lighting event at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to participate; but children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Come make some memories and ride over the creeks and through the wood – rain, snow, shine, cold or warm! Please contact Janet Black at janet@friendswoodfriends.org or 281-482-7821 to RSVP for the pizza dinner.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY will be hosting our annual Christmas party and cookie exchange on Wednesday, December 2nd from 7 – 9 p.m. at the home of Beth Stanfield (1014 Mustang Drive in Friendswood). Join us for a time of fellowship with other women, festive refreshments, and a Christmas devotional to center us around the real meaning of Christmas. Please bring 2-3 dozen of your favorite Christmas cookies. We will put together tins of cookies – some for you and some to share with others in our community. Please contact Beth Stanfield if you have any questions.
MOVING HELP NEEDED! David Jaimes, our pastor for student ministries, and his wife Claudia are excited to be purchasing their first home. They are planning to move in Thanksgiving weekend and could really use some help from our church family on two different dates. On Wednesday, November 25th they hope to do some painting before moving their furniture in, and would be grateful for any volunteers who could help for a few hours. Then Saturday morning, November 28th is moving day! They would love to have some volunteers that Saturday to begin loading things up for the move to their new home in Pearland. They hope to finish up by around noon. If you have questions or can help, please call or text David or Claudia.

ARE YOU LOOKING for the perfect Christmas gift for the person who has everything? Pick up one of the EFM Christmas brochures from the information kiosk to see how you can provide a gift in his or her honor that will bless someone in need. This year’s projects include animals for needy families to raise, bicycles for evangelists, warm blankets, water filters, support for Discipleship for Development, outreach projects and others. Instead of spending hours shopping for a gift that may never be used, consider giving a gift that will change someone’s life. See the brochure for more details.

THE CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP will take place on December 13th from 9:30 – 11:45 a.m. Children in preschool through 5th grade will have a Christmas celebration with crafts, games, refreshments and stories.
LADIES, stop by the kiosk to pick up a brochure for our 2016 Women’s Retreat – Bread of Life. We will be heading to T Bar M Resort in New Braunfels, January 29th – 31st. Our speaker this year will be Cindy Dawson and we welcome Katie Newton as our worship leader. The cost for quadruple occupancy is $170 (there are also a limited number of single occupancy rooms) if your registration form and $100 deposit are received in the church office by Friday, January 15th. After that date, the price increases to $195. For any questions, please contact.
ATTENTION YOUTH: reGeneration is a meaningful gathering of Friends students in Mid-America Friends Churches for the purposes of deepening our relationship to Christ and sending out a new generation of disciple-makers, while also making connections between Friends Church youth from different churches and adult supporters from across our yearly meeting. This is an important gathering for our Mid-America youth, and we are excited to go December 28th – 31st! Any students ages 13-19 are welcome, as well as adults who are interested to come participate and serve as “coaches” for students at this gathering. The cost is $239 per person. We hope to raise all of our travel expenses through the Dinner Auction at our Thanksgiving dinner again this year, so that the only additional expense will be around $50 in food money for the trip up and back. You can register now at www.efcmaym.org/regeneration, and if you have any questions please contact David Jaimes at  jaimes@friendswoodfriends.org.
