MISSIONS COMMITMENT SUNDAY! We are celebrating and sharing information about the ministries that our church is involved in (both locally and around the world), and asking you to prayerfully consider making a commitment to be a part of these ministries through prayer, giving and/or volunteering. Our goal for 2016 is to raise $55,000 to help support the following ministries:

• Brian and Kylie C.
• Michael and Kathryn Linville in India
• Jack and Celesta Rea’s work in Hong Kong/China.
• David Thomas and Discipling for Development in Rwanda and Burundi
• Local and overseas mission fields

We are excited to learn what God has in store for us with mission projects ‘here and there’ – we are praying for His direction about how and where we volunteer and care for our missionaries and mission fields. What a privilege we have to be a part of what God is doing in our community and around the world.
Prayer is a crucial part of ANY ministry, but in some ways it can be harder to commit to regular, fervent prayer than just to slip some money into the offering plate. Would you be willing to choose at least one missionary or ministry to pray for regularly in 2016? Thank you to those of you who are already praying faithfully! If you would like to learn more about what we are planning for missions, you are encouraged to pick up an information flyer from the kiosk.

THE WOMEN’S EVENING BIBLE STUDY Spring Session will begin February 24th at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Kimberly Sheets. The study will be Open Your Bible, by Raechel Myers and Amanda Bible Williams. Bible study books will be available to purchase for $14.99 the first night of the study.
Stop by the foyer after the worship service today to pick up a copy of our Lenten study for this year. We will be reading Gospeled Lives: Encounters with Jesus by John Indermark (author of the “Companions in Christ” series that some of you went through with Pastor Joe Roher a number of years ago.) Gospeled Lives is a collection of stories from the Gospels about individuals and groups who encountered Jesus and their varying reactions. In the words of the author, “Gospeled lives do not always veer the same direction. Calls may be heard or neglected. Challenges may be taken on or passed up. Transformation may be embraced or avoided. Some people leave the encounter unpersuaded. Others depart empowered. In every case, the story of gospeled lives remains open-ended. That is, response to encounter with Jesus continues to unfold in ongoing choices and unfinished stories… That is where you and I enter the picture. Our lives write the yet-to-be lived stories of our response to encounter with Jesus. You are encouraged to participate in this study over the 6 weeks of Lent, beginning on February 10th. If any books are left after this morning, they will be available for purchase in the church office. The cost is $15.

ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 21ST, we will be recognizing our former church custodian, Virginia Escobar Echeverria, who recently retired following 17 years of service to the church. Virginia will be with us for both worship services, and following the 10:45 a.m. service you are invited to stay for a few minutes to greet Virginia and express your thanks to her. Light refreshments will be served.
LADIES BIBLE STUDY BEGINS THIS WEDNESDAY! Join us in the Coffee Café for a study based on Jennie Allen’s book: Chase: Chasing After the Heart of God. This study explores the events that defined David’s life and the Psalms that flowed out of those experiences. Through David’s example we’ll discover what God really wants from us. By popular request, this year’s study is at a NEW TIME. Come at 9:15 for a light breakfast, followed by the study at 9:30. We’ll finish up by 10:30 so that you have the rest of your morning free. Books will be available for purchase at the first class. Nursery care for your children will be provided. Contact Kody Shepherd or the church office if you have questions.

OYSTER CREEK MINISTRY DONATION REQUESTS Rental rates in Oyster Creek are rapidly increasing because of the many plant projects in the area. Rates are now in the $800 – $1000 a month range. I would like to start sharing money-saving techniques with the moms who attend the Monthly Bible Schools with their kids. Will you drop off your extra coupons from the Sunday paper in the Coffee Café on Sundays? There will be a specially marked box for them. Donations of living inexpensively types of books or magazines would be helpful, too. I think we can help many of them become more resourceful. If you have any twin mattresses/frames that you no longer need, there is a family in OC who could really use them. Contact Diane Leaverton for pick-up arrangements. There is a card ministry at Friendly Grounds. Birthday card donations would be helpful for families and AA members. The dates for Oyster Creek VBS are July 18th – 22nd. We would love to have the youth help again this year!
