COMMITTED TO RECYCLING? So is our church, and we are in need of two individuals or families to commit to picking up the recyclables from the church just once every 4 weeks. We will provide information as to how to dispose of the recyclables. Please contact Mark Rubash for more information.

YOU ARE INVITED: Ona Mae Worden would like to encourage those who might be interested to attend Franklin Graham’s prayer rally at the capital in Austin at noon on Tuesday, April 26th. This is part of Franklin Graham’s tour to all 50 state capitals to encourage Christians to pray for our nation and to live out their faith in all areas of life.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! On Saturday, April 23rd our church will host junior high students from all over Mid America for a Bible Quiz Final competition. It takes lots of volunteers to make this event happen. The work is fun and easy, and gives you the opportunity to see how much our students are learning through this great program. If you can help, please contact David Jaimes.

THE BARMORE FAMILY will be holding a crawfish boil to benefit missions on Saturday, April 30th from 12 to 3 p.m. There is not a set price for the meal, but we hope that you will give generously to help support FFC missions. We need a head count, so if you would like to attend, please fill out the Crawfish Boil sign up form that you received this morning and drop it in the offering plate or contact the church office by Wednesday, April 27th. Everyone is welcome!

THE PRIMETIMERS will celebrate San Jacinto Day, Thursday, April 21st, with a double treat. First, we are invited to the Friendswood Senior Center at 10:30 a.m. for a performance by the “Classic Cloggers”. Then we will meet at Kelley’s Country Cookin’ Restaurant, 2933 E. Broadway (FM518) in Pearland for a Dutch-treat lunch at 11:45 a.m. Make your plans and invite a friend to come enjoy our time together on this official Texas holiday.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for our 2016 Vacation Bible School, which will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on June 20th – 24th. This year’s theme is Cave Quest: Following Jesus the Light of the World. VBS is open to children from age 3 through completing 5th grade. The $20 registration fee includes a VBS T-shirt, daily snacks, crafts and games, water day, songs, stories, and making new friends. What a deal for just $4 per day! Pick up a registration form on the kiosk or at the church office. VBS VOLUNTEERS: It takes over 100 volunteers to put on our VBS, so junior and senior high students and adults are encouraged to consider helping out. Adult and youth volunteers may pick up registration forms on the kiosk or in the church office. Please contact Janet Black for more information.

SAVE THE DATE! The EFC-MAYM Friends Women’s Retreat will be October 14th – 16th at Moody Gardens in Galveston. Guest Speakers include Lou Ann Lee, Dana Poole and our very own Cindy Dawson. Registration forms will be available soon.

SHIP CHANNEL TOUR: You are invited to join a group from our church for a 90-minute cruise on the M/V Sam Houston to tour the port of Houston, one of the world’s busiest ports. We have 25 spots reserved for Sunday, May 15th at 2:30 p.m. This tour is free of charge and will give you the opportunity to see international cargo vessels and learn about  operations at various port terminals. The M/V Houston has indoor, air-conditioned seating as well as standing room on the deck. If you would like to reserve a spot, please contact Janet Black or the church office with the full name of each person that you are making a reservation for. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and all adults will need photo ID. Our “Kids Can Do” group recently donated some care packages for the ship workers who serve the Port of Houston, and they extended a special invitation for our church to participate in this tour.  Please join us!

INTRODUCTION TO FRIENDSWOOD FRIENDS CHURCH: Would you like to know more about what this church believes and how it began? Come to this informal gathering, which is designed to help you meet others and understand our church. We will meet Sunday, May 22nd in the Coffee Café following the 10:45 a.m. service and finish by 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. A light lunch will be served. Child care will be available by advance reservation. Please join us!

ARE YOU GRADUATING from high school or college this year? We want to honor you in our special graduation bulletin on May 15th. Graduating students or their parents are asked to contact the church office  at 281-482-7821 or e-mail shannon@friendswoodfriends.org with the student’s name, the school that he or she will graduate from and the degree and major (for college students). High school graduates will be honored during the 10:45 a.m. service on May 15th along with the kids and mentors that have completed the “Making Disciples” program.

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS for the 2016-2017 Patricia Spencer Allen Scholarship are now available. Graduating high school seniors as well as continuing undergraduate college students are invited to apply. If you are interested in applying, stop by the church office to pick up an application packet, or you can download the forms from our church website. The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, May 2nd.

JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS interested in going to Camp Quaker Haven are encouraged to go to www.efcmaym.org/campinformation where registration and information for “Kingdom Builders” is now available. Senior High Camp is from June 8th-13th, and Junior High Camp is June 12th-17th (ages allowed for each camp are “grades completed”). The cost for registration is $235; an additional $75 made payable to FFC will help to cover transportation costs. You’ll also need to bring $50 cash for travel meals. Register online with your $75 deposit by May 25th to avoid a late fee. Please contact David Jaimes with any questions.

HAVE YOU HAD TRAINING in the use of an AED (automated external defibrillator) unit? The church has recently purchased 2 units – one is located in the Worship Center foyer and the other is in the tiled area between the Friends Center kitchen and the gym. Our church staff will be trained in their use, but we would also like to have a list available of individuals within our congregation who have had some instruction in the use of AED’s and would be willing to assist in the event of an emergency. If you are willing to be on the list, please write “AED” by your name in the attendance register, or contact the church office.
