THE FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR TODAY are given in celebration of our 35th wedding anniversary and our son Matt’s 28th birthday. God is good! – Marc & Kim Sommers

OUR HEARTFELT SYMPATHY goes to the family of Mary E. (Baker) Brown, a former member of our church who passed away on April 15th in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Mary was the wife of Cecil Brown, Jr. and sister of the late Jim Baker. Please remember the family in your prayers.

REMINDER: The application deadline for the 2016-2017 Patricia Spencer Allen Scholarship is TOMORROW at 4:30 p.m.

REACHING OUT – AROUND THE WORLD, ACROSS THE STREET. Come join the Missions Team in the Parlor TODAY at 3 p.m. We will be hosting Jamie Boiles, missionary in Rwanda with Belay Global – a Christian organization that promotes fighting poverty with entrepreneurship. Jamie will share the work she is doing with women in Rwanda. Light refreshments will be served.

PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT to fill out the survey enclosed in today’s bulletin, regarding your interest and availability for participating in some of the ministries of our church. Feel free to take it home with you and return it to the church at a later date if you need more time to think and pray. If you have questions about the survey or about any of our church ministries, please contact the church office so that we can put you in touch with someone who can answer your questions.

ARE YOU GRADUATING from high school or college this year? We want to honor you in our special graduation bulletin on May 15th. High school graduates will be honored during the 10:45 a.m. service on May 15th along with the kids and mentors that have completed the “Making Disciples” program.

INTRODUCTION TO FRIENDSWOOD FRIENDS CHURCH: Would you like to know more about what this church believes and how it began? Come to this informal gathering, which is designed to help you meet others and understand our church. We will meet Sunday, May 22nd in the Coffee Café following the 10:45 a.m. service and finish by 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. A light lunch will be served. Child care will be available by advance reservation. Please join us!

JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS interested in going to Camp Quaker Haven are encouraged to go to www.efcmaym.org/campinformation where registration and information for “Kingdom Builders” is now available. Senior High Camp is from June 8th-13th, and Junior High Camp is June 12th-17th (ages allowed for each camp are “grades completed”). The cost for registration is $235; an additional $75 made payable to FFC will help to cover transportation costs. You’ll also need to bring $50 cash for travel meals. Register online with your $75 deposit by May 25th to avoid a late fee. Please contact David Jaimes with any questions.

OUR CHURCH WILL BE PARTNERING with Refugee Services of Texas to help a refugee family get settled in the Houston area. We are currently in the process of forming our “Welcoming Team” – there will be several different ways to get involved as we work with our assigned family over a 90-day period. If you are interested in being part of the team, please contact Pastor David Bridges within the next few days.  One of our roles will be helping to stock the apartment of our family, so even if you don’t want to be part of the welcoming team, you may be able to help by donating needed household items. Watch for more information in the coming weeks.

SAVE THE DATE! The EFC-MAYM Friends Women’s Retreat will be October 14th – 16th at Moody Gardens in Galveston. Guest Speakers include Lou Ann Lee, Dana Poole and our very own Cindy Dawson. Registration forms will be available soon.

COMING SOON: “SUMMER SUNDAYS”! Beginning on June 5th, we will transition to our summer schedule of one combined worship service at 10:00 a.m. These combined services will feature a blend of musical styles. We look forward to once again having the opportunity to all worship together as one church family over the summer months. You are invited to come early for breakfast, which will be served at 9:00 a.m., followed by a brief, intergenerational liturgy of song, scripture and prayer which will be led by different individuals or families each week. We anticipate that this time will be something in which children 1st grade and up could easily participate; children younger than 1st grade can be taken to the nursery following breakfast, at about 9:25. Our regular schedule of two worship services and age-grouped Sunday School classes will resume for the fall on August 21st for Promotion Sunday. So – mark your calendar for June 5th and plan to be here for Summer Sundays!
