SERMON SCRIPTURE FOR SUNDAY, JANUARY 1ST: Luke 2:21-38
THE FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR TODAY are presented by Kenny & Karen Grisham in honor of Karen’s mother Deloris Marlene (Bebo) Oller who would have celebrated her 86th birthday today and in celebration of the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
PRAYER REQUEST INFORMATION: Did you know that prayer requests from members of our congregation are available on the church website? To access the requests, go to friendswoodfriends.org and click on the tab that says “News” in the top right corner. Then click on the first item under the news heading, which is prayer requests. To protect everyone’s privacy, the file is password protected, so you will need to enter the password friends (all lower case – same password for everyone.) If you like, you can save the password on your computer so that you will only need to enter it the first time you access the requests. If you have trouble accessing the requests or if you would like to add a prayer request to the list, please contact the church office.
MATT WILBER’S SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS IS MOVING! Beginning on Sunday, January 8th, the class will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Brides’ Room – that is right next to the Coffee Café, so very handy for grabbing a cup of coffee on your way to class! THE FLOWER CHART for 2017 has been posted in the foyer. You are invited to sign up for a date to provide the altar flowers in honor of a loved one or a special occasion in your family. Just sign your name by the date you have chosen – you’ll get a reminder card in the mail shortly before your chosen date.
YEAR-END GIVING: As you make plans for your year-end charitable contributions, we would be grateful if you would consider an extra contribution to the church to help us end the year in the black. REMINDER – according to IRS guidelines, for contributions to be credited for 2016 they must either be received or postmarked by December 31st. Due to the timing of the holiday this year, the church office will close at noon on Thursday, December 29th. If you still have 2016 contributions to submit after that time, please put them in the mail so that they will be postmarked by the 31st. Thank you for your faithfulness in supporting the ministries of our church!
