Sermon: David Bridges
“Blind Spots”
Luke 7.16-35

THE FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR TODAY are presented in loving memory of Owen Wood, by Opal, Gerald, Rhonda, Donald, Clint and Wade Wood.

CONGRATULATIONS to Scott and Patty Lee on the birth of their granddaughter! Cadence Delphine Rubin was born to Amber and Anthony on Sunday, February 5th.

YOUR THOUGHTFULNESS and the many ways you served our family during the “home going” of our mom, Nora Jantz, are greatly appreciated. Our family felt loved through the preparations made and the meal served; truly you were the Body of Christ to us. Your kindness will continue to resonate in our hearts as time marches on.  The Nora Grace Jantz family: Eileen, Janie, Wanda and Everett

WELCOME to our guest musician, Donna Jerz, who is playing flute for our worship services this morning. Donna performs with the Clear Lake Symphony, sings with the Houston Symphony Chorus, and also teaches private lessons. We are happy to have her in worship with us today!

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! for our 2017 Vacation Bible School, which will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on June 26th – 30th. This year’s theme is Maker Fun Factory: Created by God, Built for a Purpose. VBS is open to children from age 3 through completing 5th grade. The $20 registration fee for our FFC family members ($25 for non-members) includes a VBS T-shirt, daily snacks, crafts and games, water day, songs, stories, and making new friends. Pick up a registration form on the kiosk or at the church office. VBS VOLUNTEERS: It takes over 100 volunteers to put on our VBS, so junior and senior high students and adults are encouraged to consider helping out. Adult and youth volunteers may pick up registration forms on the kiosk or in the church office. Please contact Janet Black for more information.

Dude Camp 2017 “Super Heroes” Is coming up from June 1st through 4th. Students finishing 3rd through 5th grade will travel by charter bus to Forest Glen/Spring Christian Camp (near Rosebud, TX) for an amazing time of games, swimming, hiking, singing, and lots of other great activities. The cost is $275 (FFC attenders receive a $50 scholarship); register with your $50 deposit by April 10th. For registrations after the 10th, pay the entire $275. Pick up a registration form from the kiosk or the church office and plan to join us for a great time of having fun and learning about God. Please contact Janet Black with any questions.

STOP BY THE KIOSK to check out the “What the Pastor is Reading” display. We are currently featuring the book Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson – a powerful true story about the potential for mercy to redeem us, and a clarion call to fix our broken system of justice. Just Mercy is an unforgettable account of an idealistic, gifted young lawyer’s coming of age, a moving window into the lives of those he has defended, and an inspiring argument for compassion in the pursuit of justice. If you would like to pick up one of the copies available on the kiosk, please leave your $10 payment in the basket next to the books.

PRIMETIMERS LUNCHEON: If you are a fan of 48 Hours or CSI, you will want to attend our next luncheon on February 16th at 11:30 a.m. in the Coffee Café. We are honored to have a fellow church member, Nubbin Chamblee, share with us some of his exciting experiences from his long career in law enforcement. He was featured twice on the TV series, Cold Justice as  a “Hometown Hero”. Come and join us. An Italian main dish and pizza will be provided. Please bring your favorite small salad, vegetable or dessert to share with others. See you there!

THANK YOU for your great response to our Missions Commitment Sunday! So far 33 individuals or families have committed to praying regularly for one or more of our missionaries, and over $41,000 has been committed toward our goal of $60,000 for our 2017 mission projects! If you missed last Sunday or need more time to pray about your decision, you can turn in your commitment card anytime by either putting it in the offering plate or bringing it to the church office. Thanks for helping us to touch lives here locally and around the world!

COMMITTED TO RECYCLING? So is our church, and we are in need of individuals or families who would be willing to commit to picking up the recyclables from the church. We will provide information as to how to dispose of the recyclables. Please contact Mark Rubash if you have questions or would like to volunteer.
