VBS VOLUNTEERS: It takes over 100 volunteers to put on our VBS, so junior and senior high students and adults are encouraged to consider helping out. Adult and youth volunteers may pick up registration forms on the kiosk or in the church office. Please contact Janet Black for more information.

A TRAINING SESSION for Family Promise volunteers will take place TODAY from 2 – 3:30 p.m. in the Coffee Café. If you are interested in volunteering with Family Promise at some point (even if you aren’t able to help for our first session this month), we encourage you to come to today’s training session. Not only will you receive helpful information about how to best serve the families who will be our guests, you will also hear more about the ministry, meet the new Family Promise director, and meet other volunteers from our church and other area churches. Please plan to attend!

A BOOK DISCUSSION on the book “Just Mercy” will be held on Wednesday, April 5th at 6:30 p.m. in the Parlor. If you have recently read the book and would like to dialogue with others about their thoughts, please join us! There are a few more copies of “Just Mercy” available on the kiosk; please leave your $10 payment in the basket next to the books.

THE FRIENDSWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT Crime Victim Assistance Program will be hosting a community event as part of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week on Monday, April 3rd at 11:00 a.m. in Stevenson Park. This will be a remembrance ceremony in honor of Laura Smither. April 3rd marks the 20th anniversary of her disappearance when the strength of our community was shared with the Nation.

GREEN FRIENDS – CLEAR CREEK CLEANUP has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 15th. Help clean up our environment – join us for a morning of trash pick up along a part of Clear Creek here in Friendswood. We will walk the banks, so wear rubber boots and bring gloves. Meet in the church parking lot at 8:30; we’ll be back before noon. If you plan to come, please RSVP to Mark so that you can be notified of any weather-related cancelation. If you can bring a pickup truck, please let Mark know about that as well.

THE LAST DAY FOR TWEENS for this school year will be Thursday, April 20th. Special thanks to those from our congregation who have faithfully volunteered to help with this important ministry to our community!

PLAN TO JOIN US for the special services that will be held during Easter week. There will be a Maundy Thursday Communion Service on April 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. The Good Friday Service of music, prayers and reflection will be on April 14th at 7:00 p.m. in the Worship Center. Nursery care will be available both evenings. This year’s Easter Sunrise Service will take place on our church campus at 6:30 a.m. on Easter Morning, April 16th. We will meet in the grassy area between buildings to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior. Coffee, juice and doughnuts will be served after the service. We will also be celebrating the resurrection in both of the other morning services at 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. Please come and join us!

RABBI STUART FEDEROW from Congregation Shaar Hashalom will be here to host a Question and Answer session about Judaism. Congregation Shaar Hashalom is a Conservative Jewish synagogue in Clear Lake, and Rabbi Federow is experienced in hosting informative introductions to their traditions as well as explaining differences among the various Jewish traditions. If you’re interested in learning about Judaism, please begin to think of questions, write them down and then bring them to this informal gathering. The meeting will take place in the Coffee Cafe at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 7th. Everyone is invited.

THANK YOU to those of you who have already signed up to help with our Family Promise ministry. Our first week to help host homeless families is April 16th-23rd. At this time our most urgent need is for people who would be willing to sleep at the church for 1 night during our host week – we need 2 people for each night. You would need to arrive around 8 p.m. and stay until 6 a.m. when the families leave for the day center. A room and cot will be provided, you just need to bring your own bedding. If you would like to volunteer to help with this, or some of the other needs (providing meals or funds for purchasing food and linens) please contact our FFC Family Promise Coordinators: Desiree Trevino and Beth Skeeter.  Thank you for helping us to bless these families from our community who are in need of tangible expressions of God’s love and care for them.

CLEAR CREEK FAMILY PROMISE will be holding a charity golf tournament at Clear Creek Golf Club in Pearland on Saturday, May 13th from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets for foursomes are $500 and individual tickets are $150. For more information please contact Ryan Kirksey.

REMINDER: College scholarship applications for the 2017-2018 Patricia Spencer Allen Scholarship are available in the church office. The deadline to submit an application is May 1st.
