“Keeping up with the Spirit”
THE FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR TODAY are given in honor of mothers and those who mother, teach and nurture. On this Mother’s Day – we especially thank our moms – Mayleen Davis, Julie Street (deceased) and Janis Street. Her children arise and call her blessed – Proverbs 31:28 – Presented by Paul, Andrew and Matthew Street
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! We extend a warm welcome to all of the mothers and grandmothers who are here worshipping with us today! Our prayer is that your special day will be full of joy, and also that God would give you strength and wisdom EVERY day for the important role that He has given you.
ALL LADIES (whether or not you are a mother) are invited to pick up one of the flowers in the foyer today as our gift to you. Special thanks to Scott and Marvin Lee of Lee’s Landscaping Company for donating these lovely flowers!
PRIMETIMER’S JUNGLE SAFARI PARTY is next Thursday, May 18th at 11:30 in the Coffee Café. Our own Kay Griffin, who traveled to Africa this year with her daughter Kara, will share about their trip and how God was with them along the way. The main course will be provided by Chick-fil-a, so if you are able, bring a side dish or dessert to share. Come dressed in animal print or khaki and join in the fun.
THANK YOU for the many kind and generous birthday wishes! – David Bridges
YOU ARE INVITED to enjoy a delicious Mexican dinner next Sunday, May 21st, immediately following the 10:45 a.m. service. The dinner is a benefit to help cover the medical and funeral expenses of Juan Rodriguez, a former custodian of our church who is now gravely ill with cancer. Several of Juan’s sisters are also current or former employees of our church, including Carmen Garcia, Virginia Escobar, and Maria Perez. The family will be preparing a dinner of “carne guisada” with rice, beans, tortillas, and dessert. The cost is $10 per plate with all proceeds going toward Juan’s expenses. A headcount is needed to plan quantities, so if you plan to attend, please make a note in the attendance register today of the number of family members who will be attending, or call the church office by Wednesday, May 17th. “To go” plates will also be available. If you would like to donate a dessert to help with this dinner, please contact the church office.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR for Friday, June 9th and plan to join us for a summer concert by LouAnn Lee. LouAnn is a pastor’s wife, a mother, a worship leader and the women’s pastor at Celebration Community Fellowship in Auburn, California. She is also an international recording artist and speaker. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. in the Worship Center. Everyone is welcome!
COMING SOON: “SUMMER SUNDAYS”! Beginning on June 4th, we will transition to our summer schedule of one combined worship service at 10:00 a.m. These combined services will feature a blend of musical styles. We look forward to once again having the opportunity to all worship together as one church family over the summer months. You are invited to come early for breakfast, which will be served at 9:00 a.m., followed by a brief, intergenerational liturgy of song, scripture and prayer which will be led by different individuals or families each week. We anticipate that this time will be something in which children 1st grade and up could easily participate; children younger than 1st grade can be taken to the nursery following breakfast, at about 9:25. Our regular schedule of two worship services and age-grouped Sunday School classes will resume for the fall on August 20th for Promotion Sunday. If you would like to help with breakfast preparation please contact Gayle Jircik for more information.
TAKE A MOMENT TO SAVE A LIFE! Our church will be hosting a blood drive on Sunday, June 4th. Sign-ups for time slots will begin soon; meanwhile, please mark your calendar!
PICTURE DAY TODAY! If you don’t have a digital photo available to send to us for our upcoming church photo directory, please take a moment after today’s service to get your picture taken. Sandi Allbritton will be taking photos in the atrium near the church office – follow the signs through the Coffee Café and all the way down the office hallway. Rochelle Bridges and Molly Black will be taking photos outdoors in front of the Worship Center. There will also be a few more opportunities this month to have your picture taken. Also, don’t forget that we need to make sure that we have your up-to-date contact information for the directory, and to know about any details that you prefer not to have published. You can do this several different ways: Fill out the online form on our website, call the church office at your convenience or fill out one of the yellow forms on the kiosk and return it to the church office. Thank you for helping us out with this directory, which we hope will be a great asset in helping us to get to know one another better.
ARE YOU GRADUATING from high school or college this year? We want to honor you in our special graduation bulletin on May 21st. Graduating students or their parents are asked to contact the church office by this Wednesday at 281-482-7821 or email@example.com with the student’s name, the school that he or she will graduate from and the degree and major (for college students). High school graduates will be honored during the 10:45 a.m. service on May 21st.
