Sermon: Bobby Kirkpatrick
“Paul and Silas in Prison”
Acts 16.16-34

FUNDRAISING DINNER TODAY: You are invited to enjoy a delicious Mexican dinner immediately following the 10:45 a.m. service today. The dinner, which will be served in the gym, is a benefit to help cover the medical and funeral expenses of Juan Rodriguez, a former custodian of our church who is now gravely ill with cancer. Several of Juan’s sisters are also current or former employees of our church, including Carmen Garcia, Virginia Escobar, and Maria Perez. The family will be preparing a dinner of “carne guisada” with rice, beans, tortillas, and dessert. The cost is $10 per plate with all proceeds going toward Juan’s expenses. “To go” plates are also available. Thank you for helping to bless this family during a difficult time.

THANK YOU to the many applicants for the 2017-2018 Patricia Spencer Allen Scholarship. This year the scholarship committee was able to award scholarships to four applicants: Ashley Bivins, William Hancock, Elaina Roher and Maggie Roher. Congratulations to these four students, as well as to ALL of our high school and college students. Our church is blessed with some amazing young people who are deeply committed to Christ, talented academically, and active in serving others both through our church and through other organizations. Our love and prayers go with all of you as you head off to college next fall!

TAKE A MOMENT TO SAVE A LIFE! Our church will be hosting a blood drive on Sunday, June 4th  The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s mobile donor coach will be in our parking lot from 9 a.m. until noon to receive donations. Walk-ins are welcome, but it helps our planning and cuts down on waiting time if you can make an appointment. You can sign up online at giveblood.org (you will need to set up a “digital donor” account) or you can contact the church office to set up a time. All donors will receive a coupon for a free smoothie from Smoothie King. Please remember to bring a photo ID with you when you donate.

COMING SOON: “SUMMER SUNDAYS”! Beginning on June 4th, we will transition to our summer schedule of one combined worship service at 10:00 a.m. These combined services will feature a blend of musical styles. We look forward to once again having the opportunity to all worship together as one church family over the summer months. You are invited to come early for breakfast, which will be served at 9:00 a.m., followed by a brief, intergenerational liturgy of song, scripture and prayer which will be led by different individuals or families each week. We anticipate that this time will be something in which children 1st grade and up could easily participate; children younger than 1st grade can be taken to the nursery following breakfast, at about 9:25. Our regular schedule of two worship services and age-grouped Sunday School classes will resume for the fall on August 20th for Promotion Sunday. If you would like to help with breakfast preparation please contact Gayle Jircik for more information.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR for Friday, June 9th and plan to join us for a summer concert by LouAnn Lee. LouAnn is a pastor’s wife, a mother, a worship leader and the women’s pastor at Celebration Community Fellowship in Auburn, California. She is also an international recording artist and speaker. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. in the Worship Center. Everyone is welcome!

PICTURE DAY TODAY! If you don’t have a digital photo available to send to us for our upcoming church photo directory, please take a moment after today’s service to get your picture taken. Sandi Allbritton will be taking photos in the atrium near the church office – follow the signs through the Coffee Café and all the way down the office hallway. Katelyn Sanders and Molly Black will be taking photos outdoors in front of the Worship Center. May 28th and June 4th are the last days to have your picture taken. Also, don’t forget that we need to make sure that we have your up-to-date contact information for the directory, and to know about any details that you prefer not to have published. You can do this several different ways: Fill out the online form on our website, call the church office at your convenience or fill out one of the yellow forms on the kiosk and return it to the church office. Thank you for helping us out with this directory, which we hope will be a great asset in helping us to get to know one another better.
