BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR JULY 2, 2017

VBS SUNDAY
“Created by God: Built for a Purpose”

THE FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR TODAY are in celebration of a fantastic Vacation Bible School! Thanks to Janet Black and all the volunteers who minister to our kids and the community during this week! Enjoy the Fourth! God bless America! – The Gibbons family.

WELCOME to those of you who are visiting with us today for VBS Sunday! We have loved having your children here this past week for our Vacation Bible School, and hope that they have had a great time while learning about God’s love for them. If you would like more information about our church, including other programs for children and youth, feel free to pick up one of the packets from the kiosk located in the foyer, or check out our website at friendswoodfriends.org.

MINISTRY CONFERENCE for the Friends churches in Mid America will take place from July 20th-23rd at Barclay College in Haviland, Kansas. This year’s theme is “The Way in the Wilderness”. The cost of $120 includes lodging, meals and the program. Pick up a brochure from the kiosk for more information. You can register online at efcmaym.org.

SUMMER OFFICE SCHEDULE: In order to save on costs over the summer months, the church office will be closed on the following Thursdays: July 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th and August 3rd & 10th. We’ll be back to our regular schedule for the start of the school year.

YOU ARE INVITED to join us for a “VBS picnic” immediately following the worship service TODAY. There is no charge for the meal and no need to sign up – just come join us for hamburgers, hot dogs, chips & dessert. Offerings to offset the cost of the meal will be accepted.

FAMILY PROMISE: Our next week to host guests from Family Promise will be July 9th-16th! We need lots of volunteers to help make this ministry a success. If you can provide part of the evening meal for one of these dates, please sign up online. You can look for the Family Promise announcement on our website and click on the link, or go to http://friendswoodfriends.org/family-promise/. We also need 2 people to sleep at the church each night during our host week. If you have questions or prefer not to sign up online, please contact Beth Skeeter or Desiree Trevino.

BACK TO SCHOOL BOUTIQUE presented by Women’s and Missions ministries: Come and shop for back to school clothes for everyone! We will have men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and accessories. Save the sale dates of Wednesday, August 2nd at 6:30 p.m. and the morning of Saturday, August 5th. We will be taking donations of new or gently used adult and children’s clothing (preferably on hangers) from now through the end of July. We would also like to collect accessories like purses, backpacks, scarves and jewelry. Please take all donations directly to the old preschool room in the Education Building (just past the parlor). For more information contact Molly Black or Katelyn Sanders.

MANY THANKS to all of those who helped to make this year’s VBS such a huge success! We had 286 kids and over 112 volunteers for our biggest VBS ever! Thanks to VBS director Janet Black, assistant director Katelyn Sanders, Special Friends leader Kacey Ratcliff and our amazing group of volunteers! Your willingness to give of your time and talent was a huge blessing to children and to this community!

OUR CHURCH WILL BE HOSTING the Friendswood Community Prayer Breakfast this Saturday, July 15th at 7:30 a.m. in the Coffee Cafe, with guest speaker, attorney, Charles Kirklin speaking on the book of Revelation.
