“Getting on the Path of Generosity”

A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Delma Clark will be held at the Friendswood Friends Church this Saturday, July 15th at 11 a.m. Please remember Steve and Lisa Newton and their family as well as the rest of Delma’s family in your prayers as they gather to remember Delma’s life.

OUR CHURCH WILL BE HOSTING the Friendswood Community Prayer Breakfast this Saturday, July 15th at 7:30 a.m. in the Coffee Cafe, with guest speaker, attorney Charles Kirklin, speaking on the book of Revelation. The cost for breakfast is $5. To reserve a place, mark “PB” by your name in the attendance register along with the number who will be attending.

MINISTRY CONFERENCE for the Friends churches in Mid America will take place from July 20th-23rd at Barclay College in Haviland, Kansas. This year’s theme is “The Way in the Wilderness”. The cost of $120 includes lodging, meals and the program. Pick up a brochure from the kiosk for more information. You can register online at efcmaym.org.

SUMMER OFFICE SCHEDULE: In order to save on costs over the summer months, the church office will be closed on the following Thursdays: July 13th, 20th & 27th and August 3rd & 10th. We’ll be back to our regular schedule for the start of the school year.

OUR GUESTS FROM FAMILY PROMISE will be here through next Sunday morning. Please pray for God’s blessing on these families, as well as for the many volunteers who will be serving them throughout the week. Thanks to all who have volunteered to help with this ministry!

BACK TO SCHOOL BOUTIQUE presented by Women’s and Missions ministries: Come and shop for back to school clothes for everyone! We will have men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and accessories. Save the sale dates of Wednesday, August 2nd at 6:30 p.m. and the morning of Saturday, August 5th. We will be taking donations of new or gently used adult and children’s clothing (preferably on hangers) from now through the end of July. We would also like to collect accessories like purses, backpacks, scarves and jewelry. Please take all donations directly to the old preschool room in the Education Building (just past the parlor). For more information contact Molly Black  or Katelyn Sanders.

STUDENT MINISTRY SUMMER ACTIVITIES are underway with our new youth pastor, Josiah Brown.  On Sunday evenings, Open Gym takes place from 6-7 for junior high and 7-8 for senior high. This is an informal time of games, snacks, and having fun together. (Students who have just completed 8th grade will stay with the junior high group until mid-August, when they will move up to the senior high youth group.) On Thursdays throughout July, both junior and senior high students are invited to join us for service trips to various ministry sites around the Houston/Galveston area. We’ll learn about some of the different types of ministry going on in our community while getting some “hands on” service experience, along with getting to know one another and having fun. Space is limited, so sign up in advance with Josiah. During August we’ll have some Thursday outings to places like the beach, Putt Putt, etc. along with our lake parties on August 13th. More details will be available soon. For more information on any of these events, check out the church website or contact Josiah at josiah@friendswoodfriends.org.

LADIES – Please plan to join us on Wednesday, July 19th for a Progressive Dinner! We’ll meet in the Coffee Café at 6:30 p.m. for a fun evening of relaxing, spending time together, and enjoying delicious food!  We need you to sign up in advance so that we can plan the meal.  Once we have a total count, each person will be assigned a dish to prepare (appetizer, salad, dessert or main dish). At the dinner you’ll get a chance to sample all of the yummy treats (and maybe get some new recipe ideas!)  Sign up by contacting the church office or by letting a member of the women’s ministry team know that you plan to attend – the deadline to sign up is Sunday, July 16th. Hope to see you there!
