Sermon: David Bridges
“Waiting, Hoping, Trusting”
THE PRIMETIMERS CHRISTMAS PARTY will take place Thursday, December 21st at 11:30 a.m. in the Coffee Café. Our entertainment will be an ensemble of our own Nancy Hansen playing piano, her friend, Donna Jerz playing the flute and Karen Akkerman playing the cello. Nancy plays our organ, directs Bell Friends and teaches piano. Donna sings with the Houston Symphony Chorus and plays the flute for the Clear Lake Orchestra. Karen plays for the Orchestra as well and also plays for the Friendswood Methodist Church. Our luncheon will be catered by Olive Garden so all you need to do is Come and Enjoy! If you would like to attend, please call Janis or Marge. We want to make sure there is plenty of food. See You There!
CHURCH DIRECTORY UPDATE: We hope to have pictorial directories available for you by February 2018. If you would like to have your picture in the directory watch for info about the final “picture Sunday” that will take place in January. Meanwhile, draft copies of the contact information portion of the directory are now available on the kiosk. Please notify the church office ASAP if you see any errors in the directory, or if there are any contact details that you would prefer we leave out of the final copy.
ARE YOU LOOKING for a Christmas gift for the person who has everything? Instead of spending hours at the mall shopping for a gift that may never be used, why not honor a loved one with a gift from the 2017 EFM Christmas catalog that will truly make a difference in someone’s life? For more information pick up a catalog from the kiosk, or go to friendsmission.com.
REMINDER: For contributions to be included on your 2017 giving statement for tax purposes, they need to not only be dated for 2017, but also be either postmarked in 2017 or received at the church in 2017. The church office will only be open for limited hours the week between Christmas and New Year’s, so it is probably best to either bring any last minute contributions to the worship service with you on December 31st, or put them in the mail in time to be postmarked on the 31st. Thank you for your faithfulness in supporting the ministries of our church!
LADIES, stop by the kiosk to pick up a brochure for our 2018 Women’s Retreat – “SERIOUSLY GOD??” Seeking Christ in the midst of every storm. We will be heading to Camp Tejas in Giddings, TX – February 2nd – 4th. Our speaker this year will be Jennifer Johnson, founder of I.N.F.O for Families and popular speaker on issues related to God’s design for marriage and family life. We will also welcome back Katie Newton as our worship leader. The cost for quadruple occupancy is $260 (there are also a limited number of single occupancy rooms) if your registration form and $100 deposit are received by Monday, January 22nd. After that date, the price increases to $310. The final day to register is January 29th. Registration forms are available on the kiosk or you can register and pay online at friendswoodfriends.org; click on 2018 Women’s Retreat. For any questions, please contact Beth Stanfield.
