THE CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP will take place on December 9th from 9 – 11 a.m. Children in preschool through 5th grade will have a Christmas celebration with crafts, games, refreshments and stories.

JOIN US for our annual Christmas caroling and hayride on Tuesday, December 4th. We will meet for free pizza (donations will be accepted) at 4:30 p.m. in the Coffee Café then load up the hay wagons at 5 p.m. and head out to sing Christmas carols around town & then join in the festivities at the Brown Museum tree lighting event at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to participate; but children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Come make some memories and ride over the creeks and through the wood – rain, snow, shine, cold or warm! Please contact Janet Black at 281-482-7821 or janet@friendswoodfriends.org to RSVP for the pizza dinner.

PARENTS’ NIGHT OUT –  NOVEMBER 30TH Our Women’s Ministry Team is hosting an evening of childcare on Friday, November 30th from 6 to 9 p.m. This is a great opportunity for parents to do some Christmas shopping or have a date night while the kids enjoy pizza and fun activities in the gym. It is open to children ages 3 and up; the cost is $15 per child for the first 2 kids; additional children in the same family are $10 each. All proceeds will benefit our Women’s Ministry program, so by participating you will not only enjoy a nice break and give your kids a fun evening, but also support some great ministries! Please RSVP to  Kody Shepherd. Also, if you are a student who would like service hours for NHS, Scouts, etc and are interested in helping with this event, please contact Kody.

OUR GRATITUDE AND BEST WISHES go to Carmen Garcia, who has served as our church custodian for the past 15 years. Carmen is retiring from her position here and will be greatly missed by our church staff and the congregation. Although Carmen feels some sadness about leaving, she is looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren and having the opportunity to do some traveling.  Please pray for God’s blessings on Carmen during this new chapter of her life. If you would like to send a note to her, you can contact the church office for her mailing address.

WELCOME to Mari Castellanos, who recently accepted a position as our new part-time custodian. Mari works as a supervisor for FISD, and will also be helping us out at the church, primarily on evenings and weekends. Our staff is excited to have her as part of the team. Please help us to make Mari feel welcome!

WOMEN’S MINISTRY will be hosting our annual Christmas party and cookie exchange on Thursday, December 6th at 6:30 p.m. in the Coffee Cafe. Join us for a time of fellowship with other women, festive refreshments, and a Christmas devotional to center us around the real meaning of Christmas. Please bring 2-3 dozen of your favorite Christmas cookies. We will put together tins of cookies – some for you and some to share with others in our community. Please contact Kody Shepherd if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you there!!!

MARK YOUR CALENDAR for January 13th – 20th, 2019 which will be our next time to host Family Promise. We can always use more volunteers for everything from bringing food to helping with set up or tear down, or spending one night at the church.

LADIES – SAVE THE DATE for our 2019 Women’s Retreat “Craving Connection”. We will be returning to Camp Tejas from February 1st – 3rd, 2019; make plans now to join us! The online registration link will be available soon. If you have any questions please email Kody Shepherd!

WHAT THE PASTOR IS READING: Stop by the kiosk to check out a book recommended by Pastor David Bridges – Christianity After Religion by Diana Butler Bass. In this book, Bass offers a fresh interpretation of the “spiritual but not religious” trend and shares a hope-filled vision for a renewed faith that stays true to the real message of Jesus. If you’d like a copy, you can pick up one from the kiosk and leave your $15 payment in the basket. The Kindle version of the book is available on Amazon for $1.99.

DO YOU SHOP ON AMAZON? If so, please consider designating Friendswood Friends Church as your preferred charity through the “Amazon Smile” Program, and Amazon will donate .5% of your total purchase amount to the church at no extra cost to you.  You can do this by following this link: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/74-1300892 or sign up for Amazon Smile and look for Friendswood Friends Church on the list of eligible charities. Once you have designated a charity, you can access Amazon through the website smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com, and the church will automatically receive your contribution. It’s a simple way to help support the ministries of our church at no cost to you! Contact the church office if you have questions.
