THE CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP will take place on December 9th from 9 – 11 a.m. Children in preschool through 5th grade will have a Christmas celebration with crafts, games, refreshments and stories.

ARE YOU LOOKING for a Christmas gift for the person who has everything? Instead of spending hours at the mall shopping for a gift that may never be used, why not honor a loved one with a gift from the 2018 EFM Christmas catalog that will truly make a difference in someone’s life? For more information pick up a catalog from the kiosk, or go to friendsmission.com.

ADVENT STORIES have become an important part of our Christmas traditions here at Friendswood Friends Church. Over the coming weeks, 4 different members of our congregation will be sharing stories with us of the ways that Christ has come to their lives. If you miss a Sunday, you will find audio recordings of some of these stories (as well as some stories from previous years) on our church website. Stop by the Christmas trees in the Worship Center and the Coffee Café to look at the ornaments and remember those who have shared their stories with us in the past. During this Advent season, think about your own story, and reflect on the ways that Christ has been at work in your life. Then consider sharing  those stories – with one another, with family members, with friends or colleagues.

LADIES – ONLINE REGISTRATION for our 2019 Women’s Retreat “Craving Connection” is now open. We will be returning to Camp Tejas from February 1st – 3rd, 2019; make plans now to join us! Register at https://tithe.ly/event-registration/#/491538 . If you have any questions please email Kody Shepherd.

JOIN US for our annual Christmas caroling and hayride on Tuesday, December 4th. We will meet for free pizza (donations will be accepted) at 4:30 p.m. in the Coffee Café then load up the hay wagons at 5 p.m. and head out to sing Christmas carols around town & then join in the festivities at the Brown Museum tree lighting event at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to participate; but children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Come make some memories and ride over the creeks and through the wood – rain, snow, shine, cold or warm! Please contact Janet Black at 281-482-7821 or janet@friendswoodfriends.org to RSVP for the pizza dinner.

DO YOU SHOP ON AMAZON? If so, please consider designating Friendswood Friends Church as your preferred charity through the “Amazon Smile” Program, and Amazon will donate .5% of your total purchase amount to the church at no extra cost to you. You can do this by following this link: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/74-1300892 or sign up for Amazon Smile and look for Friendswood Friends Church on the list of eligible charities. Once you have designated a charity, you can access Amazon through the website smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com, and the church will automatically receive your contribution. It’s a simple way to help support the ministries of our church at no cost to you! Contact the church office if you have questions.

FINANCIAL UPDATE: As we approach the end of 2018, our income is tracking at about 97% of what we had budgeted. This is great news and we are thankful for God’s provision through your faithful generosity!  Though we celebrate our current financial status, we are also preparing for significant expenditures because of increased insurance premiums and facility repair and remodeling needs.  So, we hope that your year-end giving will help us to meet some of these additional financial needs we anticipate in the coming months.  Again, thank you so much for your faithful giving, not only financially, but also for the many ways that you give your time and talents to serve the Lord, this church and our community!

WOMEN’S MINISTRY will be hosting our annual Christmas party and cookie exchange on Thursday, December 6th at 6:30 p.m. in the Coffee Cafe. Join us for a time of fellowship with other women, festive refreshments, and a Christmas devotional to center us around the real meaning of Christmas. Please bring 2-3 dozen of your favorite Christmas cookies. We will put together tins of cookies – some for you and some to share with others in our community. Please contact Kody Shepherd if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you there!!!

MARK YOUR CALENDAR for January 13th – 20th, 2019 which will be our next time to host Family Promise. We can always use more volunteers for everything from bringing food to helping with set up or tear down, or spending one night at the church.
