OUR FAMILY PROMISE GUESTS arrive next Sunday, January 13th. We need volunteers for meals and overnight; sign up in the foyer today.

READ THROUGH THE BIBLE – You are invited to join with others in our church in reading through the entire Bible during the coming year. Pick up a reading plan from the kiosk for a list of readings which contain scripture selections for each day as well as a daily Psalm to pray through. This year we are using a plan from The Bible Project. Along with the schedule of readings, the website https://thebibleproject.com/ has other resources such as videos with background information on each book of the Bible. For 2019, Pastor David Bridges will host a monthly gathering for questions and reflections on the readings of the previous month. These will take place in the Coffee Café on the second Sunday of every month right after the worship service, beginning on January 13th. Everyone is welcome – mark your calendar!

BE MORE LIKE JESUS! You are invited to join us for Dallas Willard and Jan Johnson’s “Renovation of the Heart” training course. This course clearly articulates how we sometimes absorb worldly ways that can impede our being Christ-like. You’ll see how the different aspects of our make-up – heart, thoughts, feelings, choice, body, social context and soul – can be sources of strength or weakness. We’ll look at the replacement principal and many more ways to become truly alive in Christ. Jesus said, “I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly”. We hope that you will plan to participate in this journey toward more abundant life. The class will meet on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for six weeks; the start date will be announced soon. Child care is available on request and Kids-Can-Do starts at the same time, so we are trying to make it easier for parents to attend. More information coming soon!

MISSIONS COMMITMENT SUNDAY is coming up on January 20th! We will celebrate and learn more about the ministries that our church is involved in around the world. We will ask you to prayerfully consider making a commitment to be a part of these ministries through prayer, giving and/or volunteering. Our goal for 2019 is to raise $51,600 to help support ministries in southeast Asia, India, Hong Kong and Rwanda. We are excited to learn what God has in store for us with mission projects in foreign lands.  We are praying for His direction about how and where we volunteer and care for our missionaries and mission fields. What a privilege we have to be a part of what God is doing in other communities around the world. Prayer is a crucial part of ANY ministry, but in some ways it can be harder to commit to regular, fervent prayer than to just slip some money into the offering plate. Would you be willing to choose at least one missionary or ministry to pray for regularly in 2019? Thank you to those of you who are already praying faithfully! If you would like to learn more about what we are planning for missions, you are encouraged to pick up an information flyer from the kiosk or on the Church Website.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR OUR 2019 FUN RUN! We hope that you will plan to join us on Saturday, April 6th for the 1 mile or 5K races. Runners and walkers are both welcome. This is a great opportunity to get some exercise and enjoy being with others from our church and community, all while supporting missions. Sign up is online at hometownfunrun.com or through our church website. Lots of volunteers will be needed to make this event a success! If you can help, please contact Molly Black. Meanwhile, save the date!

T-SHIRT SALE TO BENEFIT MISSIONS: Stop by the Coffee Café after the service today to place your order for T-shirts or hoodies with our FFC logo.  All funds raised will be used to support our mission work around the world! T-shirts are available in several color choices in long or short sleeve styles, in adult and children’s sizes. The price varies by size and style. Orders will be taken through January 27th, and the shirts will arrive by around mid-February. You can also order shirts online – look for information on our church website.  Thank you for helping to support our mission work!
