BE MORE LIKE JESUS! You are invited to join us beginning on Wednesday, February 6th for Dallas Willard and Jan Johnson’s “Renovation of the Heart” training course. This course, which will be facilitated by Jon Kerr and Russ Merck, clearly articulates how we sometimes absorb worldly ways that can impede our being Christ-like. You’ll see how the different aspects of our make-up, heart, thoughts, feelings, choice, body, social context and soul – can be sources of strength or weakness, and we’ll look at various ways to become truly alive in Christ. The class will meet on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for six weeks. Nursery care is available on request and Kids-Can-Do (for children age 3 through 5th grade) starts at the same time, so we are trying to make it easier for parents to attend. If you have questions or would like to sign up for the class contact Jon Kerr. Jon and Russ also want you to feel welcome to attend the first session or two before deciding whether to continue with the class. More specific details on the course will be made available in the bulletin on January 27th. Jesus said, “I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly”. We hope that you will plan to participate in this journey toward more abundant life!

CALLING ALL JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH STUDENTS! Student Ministries activities are ramping back up for the semester, starting tonight. All 6th-8th grade students are invited to come to FUSE (aka Jr High Youth Group) from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Friends Center Gym. We’ll have games, snacks, and a short lesson about Jesus’ life and teachings for a Junior High context. Likewise, all 9th-12th grade students are invited to come to CORE tonight from 7:30-9:00 p.m. CORE has student led worship, games, hilarity, food (of course), and an engaging lesson about following Jesus. These events are happening every week unless otherwise stated, and you are encouraged to bring your friends. Follow @ffc_students on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to stay up to date with the latest in Friendswood Friends Church Student Ministries. Questions? Contact Josiah Brown. Email: Josiah@friendswoodfriends.org. Phone: 281-482-7821.

THE PRIMETIMERS will be holding their annual Soup and White Elephant Luncheon on Thursday, January 17th. To help warm up the season, come sample 5 or 6 different homemade soups. (If you’d like to make your favorite recipe for us to enjoy, call Marge Kelly. Please bring a wrapped White Elephant gift (a gag gift or something you want to get rid of) and a small dessert to share. Come join the fun!

CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS for 2018 will be prepared within the next week or two. In order to save money on postage, printing, etc., most statements will be sent by email, so please watch your incoming messages for an email from the church. If you prefer to receive a printed contribution statement, you can contact the church office to request one and we will gladly put it in the mail to you. Thank you for your faithfulness to support the ministries of the church

MISSIONS COMMITMENT SUNDAY is coming up on January 20th! We will celebrate and learn more about the ministries that our church is involved in around the world. We will ask you to prayerfully consider making a commitment to be a part of these ministries through prayer, giving and/or volunteering. Our goal for 2019 is to raise $54,000 to help support ministries in southeast Asia, India, Hong Kong and Rwanda. We are excited to learn what God has in store for us with mission projects in foreign lands.  We are praying for His direction about how and where we volunteer and care for our missionaries and mission fields. What a privilege we have to be a part of what God is doing in other communities around the world. Prayer is a crucial part of ANY ministry, but in some ways it can be harder to commit to regular, fervent prayer than to just slip some money into the offering plate. Would you be willing to choose at least one missionary or ministry to pray for regularly in 2019? Thank you to those of you who are already praying faithfully! If you would like to learn more about what we are planning for missions, you are encouraged to pick up an information flyer from the kiosk or on the Church Website.
