THE THROUGH THE BIBLE DISCUSSION GROUP will meet one week earlier in February due to the Congregational Business Meeting. Please join us in the Coffee Café immediately following the worship service TODAY to discuss the readings of the past several weeks. It’s not late to join others from our congregation who are reading through the Bible during 2019 – go to the website thebibleproject.com to access the reading plan and videos, or download the Read Scripture app.

REMINDER: The “Renovation of the Heart” class will begin on Wednesday, February 6th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Coffee Café.

THERE WILL BE A CONGREGATIONAL BUSINESS MEETING immediately following the worship service on Sunday, February 10th. Everyone is welcome to attend; nursery care will be available. The main agenda item will be discussion of the budget for 2019 which has been proposed by the Stewards and approved by the Coordinators. A spreadsheet with the proposed budget has been posted on our church website in a password protected file so that you will have the opportunity to review it before the meeting. Printed copies are also available on the kiosk.

LADIES, YOU ARE WARMLY WELCOMED to a bridal shower for Ashley Bridges, who is marrying Zac Melcher on April 13, 2019 here at Friendswood Friends Church. The bridal shower will be held in the Coffee Cafe on Saturday, February 23rd from 10-11:30 a.m. Because she is residing in Washington DC at this time, the hostesses are requesting that large gifts be sent directly to Ashley’s apartment. If you purchase them from Bed, Bath and Beyond or Amazon.com, where the couple is registered, Ashley’s address is listed there. Otherwise, we are planning on showering her with gift cards or small items that she can carry in a suitcase on the airplane. Gift card suggestions are TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Target, Banana Republic, Nordstrom, DSW and Costco. We hope to see you there.

YOU ARE INVITED to a come-and-go bridal shower in honor of Sara Brown on Saturday afternoon, February 23rd from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sara, who is the daughter of Ronnie & Susan Brown and granddaughter of Floyd & Marjorie Brown, will be getting married to her fiancé Justin Thorne next month in Nacogdoches, Texas. Justin and Sara are registered at Target and Amazon.com. Please stop by on the 23rd to share your congratulations and best wishes with Sara and her family.

IT’S NOT TOO LATE to turn in a Missions Commitment Card to let us know if you can help to support our missionaries through prayer and/or giving. Just pick up a card from the kiosk, fill it out, and turn it in by either placing it in the offering plate or bringing it to the church office. So far 10 individuals or families have committed to praying regularly for one or more of our missionaries, and $7,720 has been committed toward our goal of $54,000 for our 2019 mission projects. Of course many more of you are also praying for our missionaries and/or giving to our Missions Fund, and we are so thankful for your support. We will continue to collect commitment cards for the next several weeks.

PLEASE PRAY FOR AMANDA DUDLEY, one of our high school students who will be participating in a mission trip over spring break. Amanda and her father Brian will travel to Latin America with East-West ministries, an organization that focuses on evangelism and discipleship among the world’s unreached people groups. (For security purposes, they have been asked not to share trip details or the exact location.) Along with supporting the Dudleys in prayer for this trip, those who are interested will have an opportunity to help financially by purchasing Ecuadorian accessories that Amanda will have available in the Coffee Café on February 17th and 24th. She will be offering alpaca fiber shawls and leather hair accessories for a suggested donation, with all proceeds helping with trip expenses. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement for the Dudleys, as well as for other students as they seek ways to serve others, draw nearer to God and learn more about ministry.

DUDE CAMP “SURVIVING THE STORM” is coming up from May 29th through June 1st. REGISTRATION FOR OUR 2019 VBS begins on Sunday, February 10th only for those who are part of our congregation. There will be volunteers in the Coffee Café before and after the worship services on February 10th, 17th and 24th to assist you in getting your children or grandchildren registered. We encourage you to take advantage of this protected registration time, because we are expecting to fill up very quickly once registration opens to the community in March. Our 2019 Vacation Bible School will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on June 24th – 28th. This year’s theme is Roar: Life is wild, God is Good. VBS is open to children from age 3 through completing 5th grade. The $30 registration fee includes a VBS T-shirt, daily snacks, crafts and games, water day, songs, stories, and making new friends. VBS VOLUNTEERS: It takes over 100 volunteers to put on our VBS, so junior and senior high students and adults are encouraged to consider helping out. You can register to volunteer during the above times, or online beginning on March 4th. If you have questions about VBS or volunteering, please contact Janet Black for more information.
