Sermon:  David Bridges
“Medicine, Food and the Kingdom of Heaven”
Matthew 14.1-21

CONGRATULATIONS to Barry and Lisa Mertz on the birth of their first grandchild!  Peyton Avery Mertz was born to Cameron and Briana on February 19th. Please pray for God’s blessing on this family as they experience the joys and adjustments of caring for this precious baby girl.

FFC T-SHIRTS ARE HERE! If you ordered T-shirts or hoodies to help support our missions fund, you can pick them up in the Coffee Café after today’s service.  Any remaining T-shirts will be taken to the church office, and you can pick them up there during regular office hours.  Extra shirts are not available for sale at this time; we only purchased enough to fulfill the orders placed in January.

YOU ARE INVITED to attend a volunteer training session for Family Promise. These sessions are a great opportunity to learn more about this ministry and how we can most effectively serve our guests. Anyone is welcome to attend, and it does not involve any kind of commitment for future service. Whether you have already been involved in helping out with Family Promise or are just curious and would like to know more, we encourage you to attend one of these sessions.  Some upcoming dates are:

·     TODAY, 1:30-2:30 p.m. – Taylorcrest Condos Clubhouse, 1500 Bay Area Blvd.

·     Sunday, March 31st, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 pm – Seabrook United Methodist Church

·     Thursday, April 18th, 6:30-7:30 p.m. – Clear Lake United Methodist Church

REGISTRATION FOR OUR 2019 VBS will take place again TODAY only for those who are part of our congregation. There will be volunteers in the Coffee Café before and after the worship services today  to assist you in getting your children or grandchildren registered. We encourage you to take advantage of this protected registration time, because we are expecting to fill up very quickly once registration opens to the community in March. Our 2019 Vacation Bible School will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on June 24th – 28th. This year’s theme is Roar: Life is wild, God is Good. VBS is open to children from age 3 through completing 5th grade. The $30 registration fee includes a VBS T-shirt, daily snacks, crafts and games, water day, songs, stories, and making new friends. VBS VOLUNTEERS: It takes over 100 volunteers to put on our VBS, so junior and senior high students and adults are encouraged to consider helping out. You can register to volunteer during the above times, or online beginning on March 4th. If you have questions about VBS or volunteering, please contact Janet Black for more information.

THE “CHILDREN OF THE WORLD” CHOIR will present a concert in the Worship Center this evening at 6 p.m. This year’s choir features children from Nepal, Uganda and the Philippines. Their program will use song, dance, spoken word and creative media to highlight the needs of children around the world, with a special focus this year on refugees. There is no charge for the concert, but a freewill offering will be taken for the ministry of the sponsoring organization, World Help.

PLEASE PRAY FOR AMANDA DUDLEY, one of our high schoolstudents who will be participating in a mission trip over spring break. Amanda and her father Brian will travel to Latin America with East-West ministries, an organization that focuses on evangelism and discipleship among the world’s unreached people groups. (For security purposes, they have been asked not to share trip details or the exact location.) Along with supporting the Dudleys in prayer for this trip, those who are interested will have an opportunity to help financially by purchasing Ecuadorian accessories that Amanda will have available in the Coffee Café today. She will be offering alpaca fiber shawls and leather hair accessories for a suggested donation, with all proceeds helping with trip expenses. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement for the Dudleys, as well as for other students as they seek ways to serve others, draw nearer to God and learn more about ministry.
