“Surprised Sheep (and Goats)”

Matthew 25.31-46

THE FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR TODAYare given by the Wilson family in loving memory of Walter Wilson.

OUR HEARTFELT SYMPATHY goes to the family of Samantha Leigh Proudfoot who passed away on Tuesday, April 2nd. Samantha was the granddaughter of Kay Beggs and attended church here as a child.

DAVID AND ROCHELLE Bridges invite you to share in the joy of their daughter Ashley’s marriage to Zachary Melcher on Saturday, April 13th. Everyone is welcome to attend the wedding ceremony, which will take place in the Worship Center at 3 p.m. The reception is by invitation only. Thank you for your prayers for Zac and Ashley at this important and special time in their lives.

REJOICE AND CELEBRATE with our graduating students! In addition to being recognized in the service, there will be a “Graduation Celebration” breakfast on May 19th from 9:00-10:00am in the Coffee Cafe before the service. Each soon-to-be high school graduate will have a table to decorate with pictures from their childhood up through senior year. This will give the congregation an opportunity to talk with students, pray for them, and offer words of encouragement. We will also be celebrating and recognizing this year’s class of “Making Disciples” graduates. Please come and enjoy this celebration breakfast on May 19th! Contact Josiah if you and your senior want a table to decorate.

FAMILY PROMISE: Our next week to host guests from Family Promise will be April 14th-21st! We need lots of volunteers to help make this ministry a success. If you can help with any of the following needs, please sign up with Beth and Desiree after today’s service, or contact them this week.

·  Provide all or part of one of the evening meals.

·  Stay overnight at the church one night (we need 2 people each night).

·  Help clear out Sunday school rooms at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11th.

·  Help set up beds and linens at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 14th.

·  Assist with tearing down beds and setting up Sunday school rooms at 8 a.m. Easter morning.

Your help with this ministry is greatly appreciated!  If you have questions, please contact Beth Skeeter or Desiree Trevino

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS for the 2019-2020 Patricia Spencer Allen Scholarship are now available. Graduating high school seniors as well as continuing undergraduate college students are invited to apply. The recipient will be chosen based on active involvement in Friendswood Friends Church, character, leadership, academic achievement, financial need and interest in Christian ministry. If you are interested in applying, stop by the church office to pick up an application packet, or you can download the forms from our church website. The deadline for submitting applications is May 1st.

PLANS ARE UNDERWAY for our “Summer Sundays” breakfasts, which will take place in the Coffee Café on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. beginning on May 19th. For the past several summers these have provided a great time of fellowship for those who attend, as well as a delicious breakfast. This year we are trying to set up a rotation of helpers so that the same people won’t be in the kitchen every Sunday. Would you be willing to commit to helping out for a specific Sunday or two?  The menus are planned in advance and the food is purchased ahead of time; so all we need is a few extra helpers between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. to help set up the serving tables, cook the food, etc. One or more of our experienced cooks will be there to be in charge and let you know what to do. If you are willing to help on one or more Sundays between May 19th and August 4th, please contact Janet Black to let her know when you are available – janet@friendswoodfriends.org or 281-482-7821.

PARSONAGE UPDATE: The Parsonage Sale Task Force is pursuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) with the goal of identifying and partnering with an experienced Commercial Real Estate Broker. If you or someone you know wants to be considered, the RFQ will be published and distributed through a variety of mechanisms. We anticipate this part of the process to have a fairly short turnaround and to begin working with the selected entity quickly to further market the Parsonage property.

PLAN TO JOIN US for the special services that will be held during Easter week. There will be a Maundy Thursday Communion Service at 7:00 p.m. on April 18th. The Good Friday Service of music, prayers and reflection will take place on April 19th at 7:00 p.m. Both of these services will be held in the Worship Center, and nursery care will be available for children 5 and under.  THIS YEAR’S EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE will take place on our church campus at 6:30 a.m. on Easter morning, April 21st. We will meet outdoors in front of Friends Center to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior. (In case of inclement weather, check the church website for updates.) Coffee, juice and doughnuts will be served after the sunrise service. Sunday school will take place at the regular time of 9 a.m., followed by our Easter worship service at 10 a.m.
