WE EXTEND A SPECIAL WELCOME to all of the mothers who are worshipping with us today – may God bless you and give you a great Mother’s Day! All ladies (whether or not you are a mom) are invited to stop by the table in the foyer as you leave today to pick up a plant. Special thanks to Scott and Marvin Lee of Lee’s Landscape for providing the flowers.
BABY DEDICATION: Madelyn Kate Earnshaw, daughter of Eric & Angela Earnshaw
OUR CHURCH OFFICE is undergoing some renovations – please be patient with the mess during this process! Painting and repairs are still taking place, and work on flooring is scheduled to begin soon. It is possible that there will be some adjustments to the office schedule while this work is going on. If staff members are away from the office, messages will be checked frequently, so please leave a message and we will get back to you.
THE PRIMETIMERS LUNCHEON will take place Thursday, May 16th at 11:30 a.m. Main courses will be furnished and if you’re able, please bring your favorite side dish or dessert to share. Our own Glenda McDonald will be here to discuss her trip to San Diego and Tijuana to assist with the refugee crisis. She delivered some needed supplies and shared God’s love. Come and enjoy.
CHANGE OF DATE FOR BIBLE DISCUSSION: Our normal meeting time for the “Reading through the Bible” discussion group falls on Mother’s Day this month, so for May we will be meeting on the third Sunday of the month instead of the second Sunday. Mark your calendar for Sunday, May 19th and plan to join us!
ARE YOU GRADUATING from high school or college this year? We want to honor you in our special graduation bulletin on May 19th. Please contact the church office at 281-482-7821 or shannon@ friendswoodfriends.org by May 15th with the student’s name, the school that he or she will graduate from and the degree and major (for college students). High school graduates will be honored during the 10 a.m. service on May 19th along with the kids and mentors that have completed the “Making Disciples” program.
PLANS ARE UNDERWAY for our “Summer Sundays” breakfasts, which will take place in the Coffee Café on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. beginning on May 19th. For the past several summers these have provided a great time of fellowship for those who attend, as well as a delicious breakfast. This year we are trying to set up a rotation of helpers so that the same people won’t be in the kitchen every Sunday. Would you be willing to commit to helping out for a specific Sunday or two? The menus are planned in advance and the food is purchased ahead of time; so all we need is a few extra helpers between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. to help set up the serving tables, cook the food, etc. One or more of our experienced cooks will be there to be in charge and let you know what to do. If you are willing to help on one or more Sundays between May 19th and August 4th, please contact Janet Black to let her know when you are available – email@example.com or 281-482-7821.
REJOICE AND CELEBRATE with our graduating students! In addition to being recognized in the service, there will be a “Graduation Celebration” breakfast on May 19th from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the Coffee Cafe before the service. Each soon-to-be high school graduate will have a table to decorate with pictures from their childhood up through senior year. This will give the congregation an opportunity to talk with students, pray for them, and offer words of encouragement. We will also be celebrating and recognizing this year’s class of “Making Disciples” graduates. Please come and enjoy this celebration breakfast on May 19th! Contact Josiah if you and your senior want a table to decorate.
