Message: David Bridges
 “Unanswered Prayer”
James 5.13-18

PLEASE PRAY for the hundreds of children and volunteers who will be on our campus this week for Vacation Bible School!  This is an important ministry to our community, and our desire is that those who participate will experience God’s love for them in ways that will shape and transform their lives.

CAN YOU HELP WITH OUR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL PICNIC?  Our VBS program will take place this year on Sunday, June 30th. One of our traditions is to offer a free picnic afterward for anyone who would like to stay. This is a great opportunity for us to meet and welcome the many visitors who will join us for worship that day, but it is a big job to feed 250 people! On the day of the picnic we need help grilling hamburgers and hot dogs in the morning as well as preparing the serving lines; we could also use helpers during the picnic and afterward for clean-up. Table and chair set up will take place during the day on Friday, June 28th, so we could use some volunteers that day as well. If you can help with ANY of these needs, please contact Joyce Byrne at the church office.

OPEN GYM for kids 3 years through 5th grade begins on June 3rd and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the Friends Center. The cost this year is $4 per child per session. Children under 3 are welcome to attend with a parent at no charge. No Open Gym during VBS, June 24th – 28th.

SUMMER OFFICE SCHEDULE: In order to save on costs over the summer months, the church office will be closed on the following Thursdays: July 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th and August 1st & 8th. We’ll be back to our regular schedule for the start of the school year.

NO BREAKFAST WILL BE SERVED NEXT SUNDAY, June 30th since we are having the VBS picnic at 11 am.  If you normally come to the breakfast, would you consider coming at 9 am anyway to help with preparations for the picnic?  If so, sign up in the Coffee Café after today’s service or call Joyce at the church office this week. Our regular schedule of the 9 am breakfast followed by a brief devotional time will resume on July 7th and continue through August 4th.  Sunday School classes will resume for the fall on August 11th for Promotion Sunday.

PLEASE PRAY for Amanda Dudley, who will be heading out on another mission trip to Latin America in early July. Amanda will be in the Coffee Café today selling handmade jewelry and Cuban ornaments to raise funds for her trip. You are invited to stop by her table after the service to look at these items, or just to encourage Amanda as she prepares for this time of ministry and learning. Amanda is also hoping to take an offering to the local Friends Church. This congregation has a ministry of serving meals to children in the community, and they are in need of a refrigerator for storing fresh food. Offerings for this church can be made out to Peta Dudley and marked “Latin America Friends”.

FAMILY PROMISE: Our next week to host guests from Family Promise will be July 14th-21st! We need lots of volunteers to help make this ministry a success. Here are some ways that you can help.

·  Provide all or part of one of the evening meals, or breakfast on Saturday the 20th.

·  Stay overnight at the church one night (we need 2 people each night).

·  Help with childcare on Tuesday evening, July 16th while the parents are in class (students who help can get volunteer credit for NHS or Scouts)

·  Help set up beds and linens on Sunday afternoon, July 14th

·  Assist with tearing down beds and setting up Sunday school rooms at 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 21st.

Your help with this ministry is greatly appreciated!  If you have questions or would like to sign up to help, please contact Desiree at 281-731-7074 or desiree.trevino@sbcglobal.net, or Beth Skeeter at 713-501-3857 or bethskeeter1@gmail.com.
