BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR OCTOBER 13, 2019

Message: David Bridges
“For God So Loved the World”
John 3.16

WE WELCOME the Morning Bells, Danielle Harmon, Director, from the Clear Lake United Methodist Church. They will join Bell Friends during today’s service. Morning Bells ring at retirement homes throughout the area in their Music and Fine Arts Ministry. Today’s anthems are “Come, Christians Join to Ring,” traditional hymn, and “Pie Jesu,” by Gabriel Fauré.

OUR HEARTFELT SYMPATHY goes to the family of Gary Freeman, who passed away on October 9th. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 18th in the Worship Center. Please keep his wife Diana and family in your prayers.

FLU SHOTS will be available in the Coffee Café before and after the worship service next Sunday, October 20th.  Remember to bring your insurance card, as most health plans will cover the entire cost. For self-pay, the cost will be approximately $40.

THE CHURCH OFFICE will be closed on Monday, October 14th for Columbus Day.

OUR FAMILY PROMISE GUESTS ARRIVE TODAY! Please pray for God’s blessing on the families who will be staying here and for the volunteers who will be serving them.

THE PRIMETIMERS HALLOWEEN PARTY will take place this Thursday, October 17th at 11:30 a.m. in the Coffee Cafe. Chili or Frito Pie will be served. You may bring a dessert or side to share. We will be entertained by Marian Gordner’s Recorder & Ukulele Band. Come join the FUNTIME!

WE ALL ENJOY CELEBRATING OUR BLESSINGS, especially during the Thanksgiving season. This year we are preparing a slideshow of photos of individual families and youth groups enjoying time together that you send us. Your pictures can include picnics, dinners, and camp activities of our congregation to be shown on the screen during the Chorale’s Thanksgiving Celebration anthem with orchestra. Please send in your clips to Shannon Harris at shannon@friendswoodfriends.org. Let’s begin creating our production! Please send your pictures in by November 15th.

DO YOU SHOP ON AMAZON? If so, please consider designating Friendswood Friends Church as your preferred charity through the “Amazon Smile” Program, and Amazon will donate .5% of your total purchase amount to the church at no extra cost to you. You can do this by following this link: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/74-1300892 or sign up for Amazon Smile and look for Friendswood Friends Church on the list of eligible charities. Once you have designated a charity, you can access Amazon through the website smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com, and the church will automatically receive your contribution. It’s a simple way to help support the ministries of our church at no cost to you! Contact the church office if you have questions.

FLOOD PREVENTION SEMINAR: Dick Roberson, a local man who has done extensive research about flood prevention, is available to present a 3 hour seminar that will inform you about the many options you could employ to keep your home from flooding. If you are interested in attending his seminar, please call or email the church office.

SAVE THE DATE for our All Church Fall Beach Retreat November 15th – 17th. More details will be available soon!

THANK YOU to all of those who came out to our missions BBQ last Sunday! Over $3000 was raised to help support our missionaries!  Special thanks go to the Mantell family who did an amazing job preparing the meal – we are so grateful for your generosity! We also appreciate all who volunteered to bring desserts or to help with clean up, and the members of our FFC missions team who did a great job hosting this event.

OUR MISSIONS COMMITMENT fund is running behind this year. Our total income from designated missions offerings and fundraisers so far this year is about $31,000, but we have already sent out $40,500 to meet our commitments to the missionaries that we support. This includes monthly commitments through September, and we still need to send 4th quarter installments totaling about $13,500. If you are able to donate something for missions apart from your normal giving to the church, it would be a huge help to us in meeting our commitments for 2019. Just make a note in the memo of your check for how much you’d like to designate for missions. You can also make online donations through our church website. Don’t forget to remember our missionaries in prayer as well. If you would like more information about the mission work that we support, stop by the missions table in the kiosk, or contact Molly Black.

HAVE YOU BEEN TO OUR CHURCH WEBSITE LATELY? Go to www.friendswoodfriends.org to access sermon audio, prayer requests, Coordinators’ minutes, announcements and more! To access prayer requests, go to the tab at the top that says “News” and then click on prayer requests. To access the requests or other protected files such as financial information and Coordinators’ minutes, you will need to enter the password friends (all  lowercase, no punctuation). There is an extensive archive of sermons that can be searched by date, topic or speaker if you would like to share a particular message with a friend or listen to sermons that you might have missed. Also, check out our church Facebook page. We are always glad for you to share our posts to help get the word out about special events.
