BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR DECEMBER 8, 2019

Sermon: David Bridges
“Remembering Shepherds”
Luke 2.8-14

THE FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR TODAY are given by Colin and Anne Newstead in loving memory of friends and family near and far.

CONGRATULATIONS go to proud grandparents David and Rochelle Bridges on the birth of their grandson. Joseph Cole Bridges was born Tuesday, December 3rd to Randall and Sharon Bridges. Congratulations also go to our Nursery Care Director Isabel Montes on the birth of her grandson. Gabereal Kruz Flores was born to Joany and Jovany Flores this week.

FINANCIAL UPDATE: As of November 30 our cash flow for the general fund was approximately $16,000 in the red, with year-to-date income of about $720,000 and expenses just over $736,000. As you plan your year-end giving, we would be grateful if you would prayerfully consider an extra contribution to our general fund or missions fund to help us end the year in the black. Thank you for your faithful and generous giving throughout the year!

ARE YOU LOOKING for a Christmas gift for the person who has everything? Instead of spending hours at the mall shopping for a gift that may never be used, why not honor a loved one with a gift from the 2019 EFM Christmas catalog that will truly make a difference in someone’s life? For more information pick up a catalog from the kiosk, or go to friendsmission.com.

THE PRIMETIMERS CHRISTMAS PARTY will take place on Tuesday, December 10th starting at 10:30 a.m. in the Coffee Café. We will join Kay Griffins’ Bible study class. Our wonderful entertainment will be our good friend, Cliette Hodges and his youth choir. It will be a Christmas blessing for you to enjoy. Our delicious holiday meal will be a ham, turkey and Olive Garden lasagna plus a pot luck of your favorite sides and desserts. You need to come and enjoy the music, food and fellowship with your fellow Friends.

THE FLOWER CHART for 2020 has been posted in the foyer. You are invited to sign up for a date to provide the altar flowers in honor of a loved one or a special occasion in your family. Just sign your name by the date you have chosen – you’ll get a reminder by e-mail or card in the mail shortly before your chosen date.

THE USHER MINISTRY of Friendswood Friends Church is in need of volunteers for the coming year. Give yourself the opportunity to meet other members of our congregation as well as fulfilling your desire to serve the Lord. If you would like more information please contact: Mike and Teresa Wentz, FFC Usher Directors.

THE MINISTRY COORDINATORS have designated a “Facilities Evaluation Committee” to discern and determine how our buildings and grounds are facilitating our ministries and make recommendations about possible remodeling and upgrading to our buildings. This committee is conducting a “Listening Tour” in order to meet with as many members of our congregation as possible. They are meeting with different groups throughout the church—groups like Sunday School classes, choirs, Prime Timers, students, ministry volunteers for Kids Hope, Family Promise and Meals on Wheels, etc. The committee will also hold two open meetings in order to hear from people who may not be able to meet in any of those groups. The first open meeting of the listening tour takes place in the Coffee Café TODAY, following worship. If you’d like to offer feedback or insight about how our buildings can facilitate our current and future ministries, please attend.

WE ARE IN NEED OF SOME VOLUNTEERS to help with projecting the slides during Sunday morning worship services. If you are willing to help, you would serve about once every month or so, and your date can be flexible to work around other commitments that you have. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Shannon Harris at the church office. One of our current video technicians would provide training, and you could have a trial run with one of them before handling a service on your own. Our projection software makes the process pretty easy, so if you are used to working with computers you would pick it up very quickly.  Please pray about whether this would be a ministry that you could become involved in.  It is a great way to serve without requiring a big time commitment.
