Sermon: David Bridges
THE FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR TODAY are given in celebration of Christ’s birth, and what would have been Annette Williams’ 85th birthday. With love, Tim, Sky Lyn, Madalyn and Travis Gibbons
YOU’RE INVITED to a “come and go” house RE-warming party. While the dry-wall, humidifiers, and flood waters are long gone, our gratitude to you, our church family, lives on. On New Year’s please drop by, ready to snack. Come visit and join, our thank you “look-back”. Drop by the Streets between 4 and 9 p.m. on January 1st, 2020. We’re located behind Mary Queen at 3 Queens Ln.
NO SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES will be held on Sunday, December 29th.
THE FLOWER CHART for 2020 has been posted in the foyer. You are invited to sign up for a date to provide the altar flowers in honor of a loved one or a special occasion in your family. Just sign your name by the date you have chosen – you’ll get a reminder by e-mail or card in the mail shortly before your chosen date.
ARE YOU LOOKING for a Christmas gift for the person who has everything? Instead of spending hours at the mall shopping for a gift that may never be used, why not honor a loved one with a gift from the 2019 EFM Christmas catalog that will truly make a difference in someone’s life? For more information pick up a catalog from the kiosk, or go to friendsmission.com.
LADIES, YOU ARE INVITED to a baby shower for Grace Kirkpatrick on Sunday, January 5th from 2-3:30 pm in the Coffee Café. Grace and Allen are expecting a baby girl and are registered at babylist.com. We hope that you can join us!
REMINDER: According to IRS guidelines, in order for year-end contributions to be included on your 2019 contribution statement they will need to either be received in the church office by December 31st, or postmarked by December 31st. You can also make last minute 2019 contributions through our website – go to friendswoodfriends.org and click on the button near the top right that says “Give”. Thank you for your faithful giving throughout the year, as well as for your year-end gifts.
CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS will be sent out in mid-January. Most statements will be sent by email to save on costs and time, but if you prefer a printed statement we are more than happy to provide that. Just call the church office or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request that your statement be mailed rather than sent by email.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR for January 5th – 12th,
2020 which will be our next time to host Family Promise. We can always use more
volunteers for everything from bringing food to helping with set up or tear
down, or spending one night at the church.
WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS to help with projecting the slides during Sunday morning worship services. If you are willing to help, you would serve about once every month or so, and your date can be flexible to work around other commitments that you have. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Shannon Harris at the church office. One of our current video technicians would provide training, and you could have a trial run with one of them before handling a service on your own. Our projection software makes the process pretty easy, so if you are used to working with computers you would pick it up very quickly. Please pray about whether this would be a ministry that you could become involved in. It is a great way to serve without requiring a big time commitment.
