BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR JANUARY 12, 2020

Sermon: Bobby Kirkpatrick
“Wisdom”
James 3.13-18

OUR HEARTFELT SYMPATHY goes to the family of Margaret Cline, who passed away on January 6th. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 13th in the Worship Center. Please keep the Cline family in your prayers.

CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS will be sent out in mid-January. Most statements will be sent by email to save on costs and time, but if you prefer a printed statement we are more than happy to provide that. Just call the church office or email joyce@friendswoodfriends.org to request that your statement be mailed rather than sent by email.

OUR MISSION AND GOAL as a women’s ministry team is to build community amongst the women of Friendswood Friends and community. One of our goals for 2020 is to cultivate community in meaningful ways and through daily life. If you would like to be kept up to date with upcoming events, bible studies, dinners, outings, and mentor program follow the directions below for notifications, send a text to 81010 and put @ffcwom.. (You will not be flooded with texts.)

CONGRATULATIONS to Joycina Day Baker, who was honored by the City of Friendswood earlier this week in a naming ceremony at Friendswood Public Library. The library’s conference room was named after Joyce in recognition of her status as the Official Historian for the City of Friendswood. We are thankful for Joyce’s important work in our community, and that she is being honored in this way.

THE PRIMETIMERS Annual Soup and White Elephant Gift Exchange will be held Thursday, January 16th at 11:30 a.m. So far we have Tortilla Soup coming but we need 4 more volunteers to make a pot of soup. (Call Janis at 832-814-3516) Everyone is welcome to bring a small dessert or a side if you’re able. The White Elephant Gift Exchage is a fun way to regift a nice unwanted item or a funny surprise to get a laugh. Come join in the fun!

INTRODUCTION TO FRIENDSWOOD FRIENDS CHURCH   Would you like to know more about what this church believes and how it began? Come to this informal gathering, which is designed to help you meet others and understand our church. We will meet on Sunday, February 16th in the Brides Room immediately following the service and finish by shortly after noon. Everyone is welcome. Child care will be available by advance reservation only. Please contact the church office by Wednesday, February 12th with the ages of your children if you would like to arrange for childcare during this meeting.

MISSIONS COMMITMENT SUNDAY is coming up next Sunday, January 19th! We will celebrate and learn more about the ministries that our church is involved in around the world. Our theme for 2020 is “Let His light shine!” We will ask you to prayerfully consider making a commitment to be a part of our ministries in southeast Asia, India, Hong Kong and Rwanda through prayer and/or giving. Thank you to those of you who are already praying and giving faithfully! You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”  Matthew 5:14-16 ESV

YOU ARE INVITED to a wedding shower in honor of Molly Black and Daniel De La Cerda on Sunday, February 2nd from 2-3:30 pm.  This event is for BOTH men and women, so that Daniel will have the opportunity to meet more of the men in our congregation.  We hope that you will join us to celebrate with them; come and go anytime between 2 and 3:30.  There will be an interview with Molly and Daniel as well as a time of prayer for them shortly after 2.  The couple is registered at Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond.
