“Bartimaeus, a Crowd, and Jesus”
Mark 10.46-52

THE FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR TODAY are presented by Mike & Anna Barmore in celebration of the Lenten season with Isaiah 40:31:  ‘but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will fly up on wings like eagles; they will run and not be tired; they will walk and not be weary’.

CONGRATULATIONS to Hunter and Kayla Lee on the birth of their son. Samuel Joseph Lee was born on February 24th, joining his big brother Emmett. Scott and Patty Lee are the proud grandparents.

LADIES’ SPRING BIBLE STUDY will begin on Wednesday, March 4th. We’ll meet in the Coffee Café on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. for 5 weeks. Our study will be based on Bob Goff’s book Everybody, Always: Becoming Love in a World Full of Setbacks and Difficult People. All ladies are welcome – come and bring a friend! Nursery care is available.

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS for the 2020-2021 Patricia Spencer Allen Scholarship are now available. Graduating high school seniors as well as continuing undergraduate college students are invited to apply. The recipient will be chosen based on active involvement in Friendswood Friends Church, character, leadership, academic achievement, financial need and interest in Christian ministry. If you are interested in applying, stop by the church office to pick up an application packet, or you can download the forms from our church website. The deadline for submitting applications is Thursday, April 30th at 4:30 p.m.

NEW PARENTING CLASS STARTS MARCH 22! Parenting is full of challenges. We want to raise our kids well and teach them to follow Christ. But it’s hard. At our best, we focus mostly on behavior and miss opportunities to teach wisdom. At our worst, we find ourselves modeling the opposite of what we seek to instill in our kids. Whether you feel like you need a total parenting overhaul or just a tune up, all parents are invited to join us during the Sunday School hour for a parenting course called Discipline that Connects created by the ministry Connected Families. Throughout this 8-week course, we’ll watch the video curriculum and discuss the victories and challenges of implementing this parenting framework together. We’ll start on Sunday, March 22nd; location TBA. If you have any questions, contact Brian or Kylie (briankyliecoughlin@gmail.com).

DEAR FRIENDS: Thank you so much for your gift to me, celebrating my 20 years with you. I’m so grateful for your generosity, but even more so for the opportunity I’ve had to live and worship among you all these years. You have loved me and helped shape me into the person I am. What a joy it is to traverse through life with you. May God bless you richly and continue to bless others through you!– David Bridges

One of our goals for 2020 is to cultivate community in meaningful ways and through daily life. If you would like to be kept up to date with upcoming events, bible studies, dinners, outings, and mentor program follow the directions below for notifications, text @ffcwom to 81010. (You will not be flooded with texts.)

“GOSPELED LIVES” is the book that has been chosen as our Lenten devotional for this year. You are encouraged to join us during this season of Lent in reading Jon Indermark’s accounts of different New Testament individuals who experienced an encounter with Christ. Each of these people heard Jesus speak a word about his or her life. Some responded with joy and gratitude. Some ignored or rejected his word to them. Each day’s reading offers scripture, exploration of the Biblical witness, prayer, and a call to encounter Jesus Christ yourself. Copies are available on the kiosk in the foyer for $11 per book; a Kindle version can be purchased on Amazon for $9.99.
