If you are interested in applying, stop by the church office to pick up an application packet, or you can download the forms from our church website. The deadline for submitting applications is Thursday, April 30th at 4:30 p.m.

NEW PARENTING CLASS STARTS MARCH 22! Parenting is full of challenges. We want to raise our kids well and teach them to follow Christ. But it’s hard. At our best, we focus mostly on behavior and miss opportunities to teach wisdom. At our worst, we find ourselves modeling the opposite of what we seek to instill in our kids. Whether you feel like you need a total parenting overhaul or just a tune up, all parents are invited to join us during the Sunday School hour for a parenting course called Discipline that Connects created by the ministry Connected Families. Throughout this 8-week course, we’ll watch the video curriculum and discuss the victories and challenges of implementing this parenting framework together. We’ll start on Sunday, March 22nd; location TBA. If you have any questions, contact Brian or Kylie (briankyliecoughlin@gmail.com).

EVENT SPONSORS ARE NEEDED for the Hometown Fun Run! If you or someone you know might be interested, please pick up a sponsorship form from the kiosk or contact Jaime Black (832-978-5569 or jaime@stanfieldproperties.com). Sponsors will be advertised on banners, race flyers and the Fun Run website as well as being announced at the event. Gold Sponsors will be featured on the race T-shirts as well as on the backdrop for pictures of the participants. Please help spread the word to businesses that you use.

THE 2020 HOMETOWN FUN RUN & WALK is coming up on Saturday, April 4th. The event includes a one-mile Family Race (run or walk) and a 5K race through downtown Friendswood. You can register any time at www.hometownfunrun.com! If you need help registering, there will be computers set up in the Coffee Cafe before and after the service today and 3/15. Sign up for the Family Race or 5k by March 15th to take advantage of the early bird prices! Registration costs will increase on March 16th. Volunteers for race day are welcome – for more info, email hometownfunrun@gmail.com. All proceeds will go to missions.

OUR MISSION AND GOAL as a women’s ministry team is to build community amongst the women of Friendswood Friends and community. One of our goals for 2020 is to cultivate community in meaningful ways and through daily life. If you would like to be kept up to date with upcoming events, bible studies, dinners, outings, and mentor program follow the directions below for notifications, text @ffcwom to 81010. (You will not be flooded with texts.)

YOU ARE INVITED to a Family Promise Volunteer Training Session on Sunday, March 22nd following the morning service. Anyone is welcome to attend; it does not necessarily involve any kind of commitment to serve as a volunteer but will allow you to learn a little more about the needs in our community and how Family Promise is helping with those needs. For those who  have interest in volunteering, there will be tips on how to interact with our guests in ways that are sensitive to their situation. Did you know that local school districts have identified over 2000 homeless children just in our immediate area? We want to do our part to help these children and their parents transition to housing that provides a safe and nurturing environment for them. We team with other area churches as well as the Family Promise organization, and together we are making an impact to improve this tragic situation. We hope that you will join us for the meeting to learn more. The training will take place in the Coffee Café and will last about an hour.  Light refreshments will be served.

“GOSPELED LIVES” is the book that has been chosen as our Lenten devotional for this year. You are encouraged to join us during this season of Lent in reading Jon Indermark’s accounts of different New Testament individuals who experienced an encounter with Christ. Each of these people heard Jesus speak a word about his or her life. Some responded with joy and gratitude. Some ignored or rejected his word to them. Each day’s reading offers scripture, exploration of the Biblical witness, prayer, and a call to encounter Jesus Christ yourself. Copies are available on the kiosk in the foyer for $11 per book; a Kindle version can be purchased on Amazon for $9.99.
