COVID-19 update from David Bridges

COVID-19 update from David Bridges

Dear Friends,

Greetings in Christ’s name!  Like all of you, our church staff and leadership has been monitoring the Coronavirus pandemic carefully, consulting with several government, health and faith organizations in our efforts to stay well informed.  With that information and in prayerful discernment, our Ministry Coordinators approved continuing with regular Sunday School and worship this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. (Except for the Koinonia Sunday School Class).

If you are uncomfortable coming to worship, please know we understand and do not want you to feel any obligation to attend.  And of course, if you are sick or in a high risk category, we prefer you stay home.  Our staff has taken extra precautions to sanitize areas in the church that have high traffic and there will be additional hand sanitizer and wipes available at the church on Sunday morning.  In addition, we won’t encourage hand shaking, or pass the offering plate or the attendance registers this week.

A few groups in our church, like PrimeTimers, the Koinonia Class, and the Bell Choir have already cancelled upcoming meetings and additional meetings may be cancelled after the Ministry Coordinators meet on Tuesday evening.  For now, the student ministries on Sunday evening will meet at the regular times.  However, as you know, information is changing rapidly, so please check our web page, FaceBook and Twitter feeds for up-to-date information on possible cancellations in coming weeks.

Lastly, we’re reminded of Jesus’s words to his disciples as he approached his passion and death, “Peace I leave with you.  My peace I give you.  I give to you not as the world gives.  Don’t be troubled or afraid.”  Right now is a time when it’s difficult not to be afraid or troubled.  But let’s hold on to the peace that Christ gives each of us, trusting that He is with us and will not forsake us.  And may we be agents that help spread Christ’s peace to others-more profoundly and effectively than any virus will ever spread.

Yours in Christ,
David Bridges
