September 29th update from David Bridges

We routinely wait for all kinds of things:  for the beginning of school, for the weather to get cooler, for the time to plant mums in our gardens.  But the waiting we’ve done the past six months has been different.  We’ve been waiting for things to “return to normal” for quite a while now and it seems that we’ll be waiting for quite a while yet.  While some of us have not had to make many adjustments because of Covid-19,…

Like usual, be sure to download the PDF file that contains song lyrics and responsive readings, so you can participate. Next Sunday will be our first in-person, indoor worship service, which will be live-streamed on the website.

Family Promise hosting week: October 11-18

Volunteers are needed for our next hosting week for the Family Promise ministry, from October 11th-18th. September 22nd update from David Bridges

Dear Friends, As I’m writing this morning the creek is creeping up behind my home to levels I haven’t seen for three years.  Normally, we can’t even see the water in the creek from our windows.  So even though we’ve seen the creek rise many times over the past two decades, it’s still somewhat shocking to see how high it can get and how quickly it can flow.  But I don’t get as anxious as I used to when the…

September 15th update from David Bridges

Someone sent me a list of goals recently.  The goal heading was “to be more like Jesus this year.”  It was a clever list that included things like, “hanging out with sinners, telling stories that make people think, choosing unpopular friends, being loving and merciful, and taking naps on boats.”  I loved the last way this person was committed to being like Jesus-a nap on a boat sounds good.  But most of all, I loved the overall goal.  I wonder…
