September 15th update from David Bridges

Someone sent me a list of goals recently.  The goal heading was “to be more like Jesus this year.”  It was a clever list that included things like, “hanging out with sinners, telling stories that make people think, choosing unpopular friends, being loving and merciful, and taking naps on boats.”  I loved the last way this person was committed to being like Jesus-a nap on a boat sounds good.  But most of all, I loved the overall goal.  I wonder…

There is room for up to 30 people in the Coffee Café to participate, and others of you can…

September 8th update from David Bridges

As I approached the check-out register, the clerk greeted me cheerily, even though I couldn’t see her face.  “How are you today?”  “Well,” I told her, then added, “and you?”  “I’m doing VERY well,” she responded.  Her chipper interaction made me look more closely to see if I knew her, but I didn’t.  Why was this woman, 30 years my youth, being so friendly?  I had no answer, but by the time our interaction was over, I was smiling behind…

Graham, our second grader, responded, “My 10 am lunch time! It’s brunch!”  Carter, our fourth grader, simply said, “A change of pace.” Looking back on the…
