The sermon is based on James 3:13-18 (CEB)
Wisdom from above

13 Are any of you wise and understanding? Show that your actions are good with a humble lifestyle that comes from wisdom. 14 However, if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, then stop bragging and living in ways that deny the truth. 15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above. Instead, it is from the earth, natural and demonic. 16 Wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and everything that is evil. 17 What of the wisdom from above? First, it is pure, and then peaceful, gentle, obedient, filled with mercy and good actions, fair, and genuine. 18 Those who make peace sow the seeds of justice by their peaceful acts.

Because of my handicap, I was unable to attend public worship where I live or get out of the house today.
I already listened to my own pastor (he’s probably around your age. Cool guy too) online …then for some reason God directed me to you.
Great message on wisdom and excellent presentation. As I listen, I can picture in my mind God’s speaking through you (and your examples). I also imagine a very loving congregation as I recall during my time there (circa 1979-1982ish … and probably much the same). Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent. … my wry humor showing.
Please tell your son Graham, I too like risky behavior. LOL Our pastor has two young sons that would probably match well with yours. LOL
As a seasoned citizen I embrace my weirdness. It is often be used to make Christlike points.
I fondly remember Friendswood Friends Church as an unintentional but true non-denominational community congregation (almost in spite of an attached denominational name). I’m among those who prefer not to be automatically tagged.
I like what you said about wisdom.
As I continue to grow in Christ, fortunately having a regular line of buddies that come to talk with me, And a beautiful and patient wife (second and better matched spouse (following a significant amount of time after a divorce in 1989 or so. It was a mutual agreement). FYI, first wife found a husband better matched for her as well. Sorry, spilling some of my personal background. Trust me, there is much more.
I was directed with good career choices and blessed with many opportunities as a newsman.
Now, I pray my limited activities channel God’s love and peace.
I’m sorry about taking so much space. Thanks for letting me ramble. I do that and drool now.
Warmest wished to you, your family and your congregation.
Now, let’s go be a blessing,
    Mike Nixon
