January 17th update

From our Presiding Clerk, Matt Wilber: As you have heard, David has announced his resignation and we are beginning the search for a new senior pastor.  The coordinators will be meeting Tuesday evening to start the process.  We have a great church and I’m confident that God will provide for our needs.  David has given so much of himself to our church and I’m very sad that he is leaving.  However, I’m also excited about this new chapter to see what God has in store for us.  We will plan a celebration to honor David’s service to our church, information will follow.  Please be in prayer for our church and its leadership.

Peace, Matt Wilber

This Week:

Bobby Kirkpatrick is launching a bible study which begins THIS Sunday at 5pm in the Coffee Café.  The group will meet each week into the spring.  Parents can drop kids at Kids Zone in the gym at the same time if they’d like to participate and nursery care is available upon request—call the church office (281.482.7821) by tomorrow afternoon (1/18) if you will need childcare for children under age 2.

Michael and Katherine Linville and their children will be our featured guests for Mission Sunday, January 22nd. The Linvilles are EFM Missionaries in India whom our church supports.  If you would be willing to host their family of 8 for a meal while they are visiting that weekend, sign up on this link or contact Grace Kirkpatrick.

Junior High Bible Quiz is coming to our campus on Saturday, February 4th, and the youth group needs your help to make it happen. Josiah is recruiting scorekeepers, judges, and people to help serve breakfast and lunch. All in all, we will host about 120 students and adults. You’ll be needed from 7:30am – 2:00pm that Saturday. If you don’t know about Bible Quiz, you can go to the Student Ministries webpage to read a quick rundown. In short, it’s the best thing going for Junior Highers! Contact Josiah (josiah@friendswoodfriends.org) if you’d like to help.

All women are invited to join a bible study that will begin on February 8th in the Coffee Café on Wednesday mornings at 9:30. The study, based on the book “Matchless” by Angie Smith, will meet through April 5th, taking a week off for spring break on March 15th.  You can order a copy of the book here.  Contact Kody Shepherd for more information.  Nursery care will be available by reservation only, so contact the church office by January 31st with the name and age of your child if you’d like to bring your child.

Ladies, mark your calendar for the IF:Gathering on Friday evening March 3rd and Saturday, April 4th.  More details will be coming soon, but we hope that you can plan to join us for inspiring worship & special speakers, and the chance to get to know other women in our church and community.
