Ministries

There are numerous ministries going on at our church that we’d love for you to participate in.  We have very active Children’s and Youth Ministries.  There are prayer groups, adult Sunday School classes, book studies, and a growing young adult fellowship.

Many of our expressions of local missional living are birthed organically from the passions God has given our various members.  Our work supporting newly-arrived refugees, our hosting of homeless families in our church, our weekly tutoring in local public schools, and our participation in Meals on Wheels–to name but a few–are all examples of ministries that started with God revealing a particular need to a member of our congregation.  We’d love to have you join us as we seek to be salt and light in our city.

Children’s Ministries

Children’s Ministry We love children and we know that they learn more when they are having fun. Our hope is that at Friendswood Friends all of our children can feel safe and secure so that they can learn more about God and his love. We will communicate God’s instructions, his scriptures and his love to our children through bible stories, memorizing bible verses, songs, music and doing service projects. Our hope is that these things lead them towards loving and…

Student Ministries

About FFC Student Ministries Student Ministries at Friendswood Friends Church looks a little bit different than it did before the pandemic. Thankfully, nothing can stop us from worshiping God in new and creative ways. We trust these “new and creative ways” are just as spiritually formative as other faithful acts of worship in the past. The outward activities look different, but the inward reality and intention are the same: we’re learning how to faithfully love God and our neighbors (Matthew…

Women’s Ministry

Our mission is to reach out and connect with the women of our church and community demonstrating love and support through activities which build relationships and ultimately result in spiritual growth and closeness to our savior Jesus Christ. Each semester, we offer a morning and evening Bible Study for women to dig deeper into the Word of God. We engage in a variety of studies from teacher taught studies of the Bible to relevant video guided studies. Our annual weekend…

World Mission

World Missions World Missions is an important part of the ministry of Friendswood Friends Church. Through our denominational mission organization, Evangelical Friends Mission, we help to support mission work all over the world – in places like Nepal, Mexico, Rwanda, Ireland, Hungary, India, and the Philippines. In addition to our support of EFM, we have chosen to have a special relationship with several missionary families who have close ties to Friendswood Friends. Each year we raise thousands of dollars beyond our…

Music

Worship is the central activity of our church. We gather on Sunday mornings to express praise to our sovereign Lord, thankfulness to our gracious God, contrition to our forgiving Savior, dependence on the Holy Spirit, our receptivity to the Living Word, and to reaffirm our need for fellowship with Christ’s body, the Church. Music can be a significant part of corporate worship. When we gather on Sundays for worship, we desire to encourage those around us to focus on God…

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual Direction Spiritual direction, which is similar to yet different from a therapeutic relationship, can be understood in a variety of ways. Some see it as storytelling. While telling your story to a spiritual director, the director helps you link your story to the great redemptive story of God’s work in our world through the ages. Others describe spiritual direction as a journey traveled by an explorer with a guide who knows  the terrain: the journey of the pilgrim to…

Friends Cemetery

Friendswood Friends Cemetery The Friendswood Friends Cemetery is certified by the Texas Historical Commission as a “Texas Historic Cemetery.” It was established in 1895 just months after the first settlers arrived. Friendswood co-founder, Frank J. Brown, donated the land and laid out the cemetery with its two private roads crossing at the center. A burial site was needed for young Newton Knode who was killed instantly by a falling tree while he was cutting firewood. Many Friendswood pioneers and their…
