The prophet Jeremiah witnessed the beginning and endured the Babylonian exile. God called Jeremiah to deliver important news during difficult times and warned him that people would not listen. He is mocked and lost friends and family.
Even still Jeremiah writes: “Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever.” He later adds “‘The days are coming,’ declares the LORD, ‘when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah. “‘In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land. Jeremiah 33:11, 14-15. During Advent, we both celebrate and wait for Jesus in the promise kept.
