| Thank you from the Coughlins We want to thank all of you at FFC for your kindness over the summer. Thanks so much for the sweet cards and the generous gifts. They really helped us with groceries and fuel over the summer — especially during our travels. We are also grateful for the time to share and have conversations here and there with many of you. It means so much to have your support — both emotional and financial. God is Love I heard so many responses from the sermon I gave in June and it is really encouraging to know that many of you are still talking to one another and seeking the Lord about this theme. Thanks for sharing how it landed on you! I ended that message by emphasizing the importance of listening to others. After speaking with some of you I have also found it helpful to remember that listening always requires someone speaking. To listen well requires us moving close to someone and asking the types of questions that encourage the other to speak openly to us. Of course that requires being someone who is safe and gentle. So if your first practice was to listen, allow me to add one additional practice: ask good questions. One way you might do that is whenever you want to make a statement think about how you could turn that into a question instead. So “you really should consider ___________.” becomes “what have you already considered?” or “I don’t believe that ___________!” becomes “what do you believe about ______________?” Prayer Updates Many of you over the years have changed your email and so we have lost contact with you. | The American Red Cross declared a national blood supply crisis after donations dropped to a four-year summer low, with national inventory falling roughly 25%. To help inventory supply, we will host a Community Blood Drive on our campus on August 28th from 12:00-4:30 pm. For more information on becoming a donor or to register follow the links below. | Family Promise We are in the middle of our Family Promise host week and we couldn’t be more thankful for all of our volunteers. Thank you for making our guests feel right at home. If you have interest in volunteering, you can sign-up for making/serving a meal or to stay as an overnight host by using the link below. You can also contact the church office if you have questions, or if you would just like more details on Family Promise. Volunteer for Family Promise If you have never volunteered before or just interested in a “refresher course” there is an optional volunteer training available online. If you would like information on how to access this course, contact the church office. Thank you for your willingness to serve and be apart of Family Promise! Sunday Mornings at 9:00 Sunday School at 9:00 AM is back! Children and Students meet in Friends Center for Donuts and Discussions. An Adult Sunday School class meets in the Brides Room for community and spiritual conversation. Student Ministries Events Back to School is here which means our Student Ministry Pool Party is too. Pool parties and an informational parent meeting are on August 16th. Location: Bobby and Shanna Kirkpatrick’s House.
