Summer is quickly moving along, and we have many events coming up.

The first is Eddie Rollins’ 95th Birthday Party! We will enjoy cake and celebration on July 19 from 2:00-4:00 pm in the coffee café. For her birthday, Eddie has requested that donations be made to the shower ministry for the homeless instead of gifts.

Also, this week our ladies are coming together for a second Women’s Summer Night Conference. Plan to attend on July 19 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm in the coffee cafe to fellowship, sing, and praise while participating with streamed speakers from the IF:23 Conference. It’s not too late to sign up! RSVP by tonight to be included in the catered dinner. Contact the church office if you would like additional information.

Janet Black is retiring from her role as director of children’s ministries. She just completed her 22nd VBS, and it was a blast! Please join us immediately after the worship service on July 30th to celebrate Ms. Janet for the many ways that she has blessed our children and our entire congregation during this ministry.

Volunteers are needed to help provide refreshments for Janet’s Retirement Celebration. Sign up here by clicking the link, typing your name, and providing a quantity of what you are bringing. You can even provide a comment to specify the type of item you are contributing. For example, under cookies, you could specify chocolate chip cookies. If you have questions, you can contact Alicia Baumer.

Looking ahead to August, Promotion Sunday is on August 13th. This is the official kickoff to new Sunday School classes. Our children and students will level up with their age groups, and it is a great opportunity to jump into our Adult Sunday School class. Sunday School meets at 10 am before the Worship service. More information on class locations to come.

The Back-to-School Junior High and High School Pool Party is on August 13th hosted by the Baumer Family. JH students’ swim time is 5:00-6:30 pm and HS students plan to swim 7:00-8:30 pm. Parents, there is an informational meeting between swimming at 6:30-7:00 pm. Come learn about the many ways your students can participate and engage with Christ this year. Reach out to Katelyn with any questions.

The church also has upcoming opportunities for serving in the community.

FISD Community Faith Partners Mentor Volunteers Needed: In the past, we partnered with KidsHope USA to provide adult mentors to students at Westwood/Bales. After Covid, we began to phase this program out. In the last year, the counselors on these campuses have recognized a growing need to bring this type of mentorship back. We will be working with the district’s existing Faith Partners program to provide support to students in need. If you are available to meet with a student for thirty minutes to an hour once a week or serve as a substitute, please reach out to Bobby and let him know you are interested.

Mark your calendars, our next host week for Family Promise is August 13. We will need volunteers to help with setup, to stay the night, and to host dinners for our guests. Be praying for how you can serve this ministry.

Lastly, awesome things are happening in our student ministries.

Katelyn has many ways for you to engage and stay connected with updates and ways God is moving with our Junior High and High School Students. If you would like information on how to interact and receive updates with this ministry follow this link for detailed instructions. If you have questions on how to access any of these platforms, contact Katelyn, and she would be happy to help you get set up.

And let us consider each other carefully for the purpose of sparking love and good deeds. Don’t stop meeting together with other believers, … Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see the day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25 CEB
