Fall Festival
Fall Festival is this Sunday, October 29 from 5-7 PM! We are thrilled to host a fun evening of trunk-or-treating, train rides, and old-school fall fest games. There is no cost to attend the festival, and we hope you feel encouraged to invite your friends and neighbors. There are still opportunities to volunteer at some of the game booths, pumpkin decorating, and the Kidzone Art Auction. Contact Tena Roher if you would like to volunteer or help sponsor this event. Be praying for the ways this event may be a blessing to our church families and community.
In celebration of the Fall Festival, there will be no Kidzone or Adult Bible Study this Sunday night. We will resume these activities on the following Sunday, November 5.
Student Ministries will be hosting a Kids Night Out for our church members and regular attendees on November 11 from 5:00-8:00 PM. KNO is a fun time for kids to participate in crafts, play games, and enjoy stories and a movie while their parents can enjoy some time off! The cost is $25 per child for children ages 12 months – 5th grade. For families with 4 or more children, the cost of this event will be capped at $75/family. Pre-registration is required, and families can register by following the link. Registration closes on November 5.
KNO is not only a fun time for kids but is also serving as a fundraiser that will help reduce travel costs associated with events such as Summit, Spring Connection, and Camp Quaker Haven for our student ministries. If you feel led to sponsor this event, to volunteer, or if you have questions, please reach out to Katelyn Sanders.
Annual Thanksgiving Meal
The church is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Meal catered by Cracker Barrel on Sunday, November 19th at 5:00 PM. Tickets are available for purchase online now, in the church office beginning next week, and will be sold after the Worship Service on November 5th and November 12th.
Bible Quiz Pie Sale
It is time for the annual Bible Quiz Pie Sale. Pies can be ordered after the Worship Service on October 29, November 5, and November 12. You will be able to pick up your pies on November 19 after the service. Pecan and Pumpkin Pies are $20 each and Apple Pies are $25 each. Thank you for supporting the Bible Quiz Team!
Family Promise
Once a quarter the church provides meals and beds for families experiencing homelessness through the organization Family Promise. Our next week to host families with Family Promise is November 19-25,which falls over the week of Thanksgiving. Many regular volunteers will be out of town this week, but we are encouraged by the opportunity for new families to participate in serving with us. If you feel led to serve with us by bringing a meal and dining with the families or staying overnight, please contact the church office.
Undie Sunday
In coordination with FISDCares, Bay Area Alliance, and other churches in the community we are participating in Undie Sunday. On November 12, there will be collection bins in the Friends Center, Coffee Café, and outside the Worship center to accept donations of NEW undies, pajamas, and socks for kids in need this holiday season. Donations can also be dropped off at the church office leading up to November 12. Children and adult sizes are needed. We appreciate your help in making this Undie Sunday clothing drive a success.
Women’s Prayer Group
Ladies – you are invited to join with other women for an informal time of prayer and sharing on Mondays at 10 am. Time will be spent praying for any personal concerns of people in the group as well as for our church, our community, and the world. The gathering takes place in the Journey Room (located in the office hallway) and we plan to spend about an hour in conversation and prayer. All ladies are welcome! For more information, contact the church office or Michal Alexander.
Get Connected
We are so excited about all the new and ongoing ministries in our church. We have seen growth and are encouraged by the many faces in our congregation. We want to make sure the new faces and regular faces feel connected with what is going on and with each other. The first step may simply be knowing what is going on in and around our church. There are a few ways that you can discover how to engage with the church family.
- Our new website is fabulous (Thank you, Jason Porterfield!): To see the site, type www.friendswoodfriends.org into your browser or simply click the link.
- Visit our social media pages: If you use Facebook or Instagram, those pages are also updated with current events and happenings around the church.
