We study the prophets during the Advent season because they know what it means to wait. The prophets remind us that without the waiting we might miss the fullness of God’s peace and love. The building of suspense in the waiting, like children at Christmas, leads to excitement and hopefulness. We are invited to take this posture of waiting to celebrate the arrival of Christ the King on Christmas Day. Let’s prepare our hearts and watch with anticipation. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. Isaiah 40:5
