In the origin story from Genesis 2, the bible presents a different perspective of creation than the Genesis 1 story. We study origin stories so we can remember what we should return to. This passage reminds us we are from the dirt. Spending time with nature allows us to reflect on our daily dependence on God and each other. In the beginning, we did not create ourselves, and we think we don’t need help, but we were made to need God. Our origin story reframes us to realize we are needy, humble humans dependent on God.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
