When King Josiah took the throne at the age of 8, it had been about 75 years since anyone in Judah really knew or had a relationship Yahweh. When this king shows an interest in the upkeep of the Lord’s house, we see in 2 Kings 22:1-10, a priest finding and reading the preserved story of their people. The protection of this story presents to us a calling and a privilege to continue passing on the story. How can we show our thanksgiving for the people who have sacrificed in order to preserve the Word of the Lord? The king stood beside the pillar and made a covenant with the Lord that he would follow the Lord by keeping his commandments, his laws, and his regulations with all his heart and all his being in order to fulfill the words of this covenant that were written in this scroll. All of the people accepted the covenant. 2 Kings 23:3
