Building and Facilities Update:
We’ve been blessed to see many upgrades to our grounds and buildings, and we are thankful to Don Powell for organizing these various improvements. One of the current projects underway is the exterior of the Friends Center which was overdue for a coat of sealant to protect the building from water damage. This sealant is being applied with a tinted color to add cohesion across the buildings on the church campus. The project is just getting started and it already looks great.
Children’s Ministry Check-in System:
We are thrilled to introduce a brand-new check-in service starting this Sunday for our children’s ministry! As we strive to provide the best possible experience for both you and your children, we’ve implemented this new system that will allow you to check in and out of events quickly and safely during our gatherings.
How it works:
There will be 3 different locations or stations designated for check-in: 1) If you attend Sunday School at 9:00 AM we will have a check-in at the gym door, 2) at the nursery, or 3) in the front foyer of the sanctuary before the service begins.
There will be someone at each station to assist you in printing your child’s identification tag and pick-up ticket. At the station, simply type in your last name on the computer, and your “household” will pop up. Next, you will need to click on each child’s name in attendance.
If your “household” does not appear, or if you are a first-time visitor, we will guide you through the simple process and answer any questions you may have.
We can’t wait to see you and your children at our next service! Should you have any inquiries or need additional information, feel free to reach out to Tena Roher. Thank you for entrusting your children to our program as they learn more about following Jesus!
Promotion Sunday:
This Sunday is Promotion Sunday. This is the official kickoff to new Sunday School classes. Our children and students will level up with their age groups, and it is an excellent opportunity to jump into our Adult Sunday School class. Children and students will meet in the Friends Center and our Adult Class will meet in the Brides Room near the Coffee Café. Sunday School meets at 9 AM before the Worship service.
As a part of the Promotion Sunday fun, the Back-to-School Junior High and High School Pool Party will be hosted by the Baumer Family at their home, 67 El Dorado Dr. Friendswood TX, this Sunday. JH students’ swim time is 5:00-6:30 PM and HS students plan to swim 7:00-8:30 PM.
Additionally, Junior High and High School Parents are encouraged to attend one of two informational meetings. The first is immediately following this Sunday’s service in the Coffee Café. The second will take place between the swimming parties at 6:30-7:00 PM. Plan to attend and learn about the many ways your students can participate and engage with Christ this year. Reach out to Katelyn with any questions about the meetings or swim parties.
Sunday Evening Weekly Rhythms Return on August 20:
Kidzone: Kids ages 3-5th grade are invited to meet in the Friends Center from 5:00-6:00 PM. Come have fun learning about Jesus and how to be his hands and feet serving our community.
All Church Bible Study: Also, from 5:00-6:00 PM, there is an adult bible study that will meet in the Coffee Café, led by Josh Bunce and Bobby Kirkpatrick. We will pick the study back up in the book of Luke. Don’t worry if you missed the first few chapters of this study in the spring, this bible study is open for all to attend as schedules allow.
FUSE: JH Students meet upstairs in the Friends Center from 6:00-7:00 PM to play games, have snacks, and hear about God from trusted adults.
CORE: For HS Students, CORE meets from 7:30-9:00 PM upstairs in the Friends Center to worship and praise together, play games, and hear about the word of God from fellow students and trusted adults.
Opportunities to Serve:
Shower Ministry Need: Our shower ministry volunteers are hard at work during the week sorting and folding clothes and organizing toiletries that get distributed on Tuesdays. As this ministry grows, they need shelves to help with this sorting and organizing process. The shelves don’t need to be pretty, simply functional. If you have any shelving that you would be willing to donate to this ministry, please reach out to the church office.
Green Friends is our recycling ministry, and we are looking for a few more environmentally conscious members that would be willing to volunteer. Group members take turns picking up bundled church recyclables and adding them to their home recycling bins. If you would like to participate in this ministry, please contact the church office.
Family Promise host week begins this Sunday, August 13. We will need volunteers after the service on Sunday to help with setup. There are also a few open opportunities to help during the week. Reach out to Desiree Trevino or Beth Skeeter if you can serve as an overnight host or provide a dinner.
Thad Roher Update:
Thad and Tena are so blessed and thankful for your prayers; Thad is now recovering at home. Thank you for your continued prayers.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
