Hello friends! 

I just returned from spending two weeks at Camp Quaker Haven as the program director for both high school and junior high camps. Camp is FUN! We had great speakers, worship teams, campers, counselors, program staff, and many people who helped behind the scenes. We played so many games, held multiple tournaments, and hosted the first-ever Campers Choice Awards. I am absolutely filled with joy and awe, having watched this next generation at camp these last two weeks. Deep Dive was our camp theme this year and our speakers brought us messages each day from Ephesians 3:17-19. 

…so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

We dove deep into identity and God’s love for us. My prayer continues to be that each of our students will know how dearly loved they are by their Creator. I pray that this generation knows they don’t have to do anything to earn God’s love. I pray they know their worth and don’t fall into the worldly lies about who they are. Henri Nouwen details 3 big lies when it comes to our identity which our high school students dove deep into:
1. I am what I have.
2. I am what I do.
3. I am what others say about me.
The truth is that I am a beloved child of God. 

Let us be people who continue to rally around our young people, showing with words and actions that they are dearly loved. If you see a camper over the next few weeks, ask them about camp! Here are some suggestions on what to ask them about their time spent at CQH: In 2-3 sentences, tell me how was camp? When did you feel closest to God at camp? What is one thing you are bringing back with you from camp? Did you have a favorite game at camp? Is there a conversation that you had at camp that is sticking out to you? 

And as always, the phrase “tell me more” is a great way to learn more from our students and to keep them talking. May camp not be just a week away from our normal routines, but a transformative experience that we are continually reflecting on and learning from once home.

VBS Volunteer Training
If you are a VBS volunteer, please make time to attend one of our VBS training sessions. There are two sessions available: Sunday, June 23rd, and Wednesday, June 26th (Please note the change in date due to inclement weather expected tomorrow). Both meetings will take place at 4:00 pm in the Coffee Cafe. Again, you only need to attend one training. Contact Tena Roher if you have any questions. Summer Activities
Next week’s Friends Summer Outings is Open Gym. Parents can stay and chat with other parents while their kids play, or potty-trained 3 year olds-5th graders can be dropped off for $5/child(cash only). Open gym for 3 years-5th graders is 9:00 AM-10:30 AM.
Open Gym for Students 6th grade-12th grade is 10:30 AM-Noon.
