| The first of the tree sculptures, the Founders Tree, from the Friendswood Tree Legacy Foundation has been set in front of the Perry Home and at the back of our property. The foundation’s goal in their first sculpture was to highlight Friendswood’s roots, and creatively, one of the ways the artist achieves this is by carving the roots of the oak tree and turning them into the leaves of the sculpted fig tree. The Galveston artist pays homage to the fig orchards of Friendswood by creating a fig tree held by the hand of God. Each fig sculpted has a different scene, and in the image above you can see the representation of the founding Quakers. It is a beautiful sculpture with many symbolic elements. We encourage you to go out back and take a look.
