This week, many of you will gather around tables with friends and family to give thanks to the Lord and eat some delicious food. This year I am extremely thankful for a new role at Friendswood Friends Church. I am thankful for the opportunity to get to walk alongside our young people. I am thankful for you, my Friendswood Friends family, for welcoming me into this space with open arms. I am thankful for the love and care this congregation has for each other and for the many that you serve.
If you have a minute on Sunday, I encourage you to stop by the Friends Center (gym building). Just inside the door, to the right, is a “Prayers and Praise” wall. There are little strips of paper and clips in a basket for you to express praises and thankfulness, to share scripture with one another, and to share prayer requests. We would love to join you, both in prayer and in praise!
Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name;
make his deeds known to all people!
Sing to God, sing praises to him;
dwell on all his wondrous works!
Give praise to God’s holy name!
Let the hearts of all those seeking the Lord rejoice!
1 Chronicles 16:8-10
With a thankful heart,
The Missions Team will be hosting a silent auction over the next few weeks featuring a beautiful quilt donated by the Bee Pieceful Quilters and a beautifully refinished pew from the chapel. Both are on display in the Coffee Café where you can make your bids on November 26 and December 3. Or you can follow the link to visit the website and see pictures of the lovely items available for auction.
If you would like to participate with the choir in singing on December 17, there will be two rehearsal days, December 3 and December 10 at 5:00 pm. We would love for you to join us. Contact Bobby Kirkpatrick if you have questions or would like more information.
Christmas Carol Hayride
Join us for a fun evening of caroling and Christmas fun on Tuesday, December 5 at 5:00 PM. We will meet in the Coffee Café for pizza and then load up for a hayride through Friendswood. We will carol to the elderly spreading Christmas cheer, singing loud for all to hear. There will be a final stop at the Brown Museum to join in their Christmas Tree Lighting. We hope you plan to join us as we sing and laugh on the Christmas Carol Hayride.
Women’s Ministry Cookie Exchange
Ladies, join us on Wednesday, December 6 from 6-8 PM at 412 Fieldcreek Dr. for our annual Christmas Cookie Exchange. Bring two dozen of your favorite cookies to share and you will leave with two tins of mixed cookies, one for you and one to share. Contact Kody Shepherd to RSVP.
Children’s Church Choir
Ms. Tena is excited to work with your children in preparing a few songs for the children to sing during the Worship Service on December 17. She and Deborah Morris will rehearse with the kids during Children’s Church for the next few weeks. Be looking for an email with music, so you can sing along with your kids at home.
Christmas Eve Services
Sunday December 24, join us for Worship Service at 10:00 AM. There will be no Sunday School classes that morning. Then, plan on celebrating with us that evening at the traditional Candlelight Service at 6:00 PM.
As the temperatures begin to drop, if you are considering giving to the shower ministry, donations of sweatpants, and other warm clothing like gloves, hats, and jackets would be most welcome. New and used clothing donations can be left under the breezeway outside the education building.
We began hosting four families with Family Promise on Sunday. We are so thankful for all the volunteers and the ways that you have supported this ministry. If you are willing and able to help Sunday morning at 7:30 AM to unmake bedrooms and put Sunday School classrooms back together, we would be grateful.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD Most High. Psalms 7:17
