Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, Psalm 105: 1-5
As we approach the holiday season, I am often conflicted with the dichotomy of emotions I can experience. Moving through Thanksgiving we talk of being thankful for our many blessings and being sure to express that gratitude. Then as families gather together for the Christmas season, again, it is a time when we feel the need to be joyous. Unfortunately, the holiday season can also cast a shadow of hardship. The pressure to be thankful amplifies the struggles some face, highlighting the difference between the happy facade and personal difficulties. For some families or individuals, these celebrations can be bittersweet as it may be their first time navigating Christmas without a loved one, others may be experiencing a health crisis, and still others a personal hardship. It becomes a delicate balance of honoring the essence of gratitude yet acknowledging the challenges we also face.
I love reading this Psalm as a reminder to both give praise to the Lord for the things He has done, but to also look to the Lord for strength. Look to the Lord and remember the wonders He has done in the past to help us journey through the difficult times we may now be facing. I love that I can come to the Lord with both feelings.
As you move through this holiday season, I pray that you will “seek His face always” whether it is to be in a posture of gratitude or whether it is seeking His face for strength because of a difficulty you may be facing. May you find strength in remembering the wonders He has done in your life to sustain you and then give glory to His name.
Blessings this holiday season sweet friends,
Christmas Carol Hayride
Join us for an evening of caroling and Christmas fun on Tuesday, December 5 at 5:00 PM. We will meet in the Coffee Café for pizza and then load up for a hayride through Friendswood. We will carol to the elderly spreading Christmas cheer, singing loud for all to hear. There will be a final stop at the Brown House Museum to join in their Christmas Tree Lighting. We hope you plan to join us as we sing and laugh on the Christmas Carol Hayride. RSVP by emailing Ms. Tena.
Ladies, join us on Wednesday, December 6 from 6-8 PM at 412 Fieldcreek Dr. for our annual Christmas Cookie Exchange. Bring two dozen of your favorite cookies to share and you will leave with two tins of mixed cookies, one for you and one to share. Please contact Kody Shepherd to RSVP this week so she can place the catering order.
Although we have just wrapped up our Fall Bible Study, we will continue meeting together in the Coffee Café on Wednesdays from 9:00-10:00 AM. This can be a quiet place for bible reading or devotion, to pray together, or to discuss the Advent season.

The Missions Team is hosting a silent auction featuring a beautiful quilt donated by the Bee Pieceful Quilters and a lovely, refinished pew from the chapel. Both are on display in the Coffee Café where you can make your final bids on December 3. The winners of the items will be announced after the service on Sunday.
If you would like to participate with the choir in singing on December 17, there will be two rehearsal days, December 3 and December 10 at 5:00 pm. We would love for you to join us. Contact Bobby Kirkpatrick if you have questions or would like more information.
