Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend “Lunch with a Vision” hosted by Twenty20 Ministries, a local organization that helps ensure children in our community have access to the vision care they need. They connect optometrists, pediatricians, school nurses, and nonprofits to meet this need. During the event, Dr. Reagan Ratcliff, their executive director, said something that stuck with me: all four Gospels tell stories of Jesus miraculously healing the blind. In Jesus’s time, that was a remarkable miracle. And honestly, for someone like me who wears contacts daily, it still feels pretty significant! But today, with glasses, contacts, and LASIK so common in our community, we rarely think of restored vision as miraculous. It reminded me how easily we overlook the quiet, ongoing ways God moves in our lives.

We often expect miracles to be dramatic or unexplainable, but God’s presence is woven into the ordinary. Recognizing these everyday miracles requires us to slow down and have a shift in perspective. Instead of waiting for something extraordinary, we are invited to live with eyes of faith and hearts tuned to God’s presence. A few weeks ago, my youngest, Emilia, came to me in the middle of dinner prep with a plea for a band-aid to fix an invisible scratch.
Background, I just love baby hands. They are so sweet and tender and chubby. She’s my last to still have those sweet chubby little hands and my time with them is fleeting. Even with this love for her sweet hands, I found myself frustrated having to pause cooking to find a silly band-aid. And then it hit me, my evening routine and busyness was being interrupted so I could tenderly hold this sweet little miracle.

In my rush, I was about to miss God’s gift that was right in front of me because I was wrapped up in making spaghetti. When we pause to reflect on the small blessings—a kind word at the right time, a moment of peace during a busy day, an unexpected answer to prayer, or the hands of a little child—we begin to see just how deeply God is involved in our lives. These small wonders are no less miraculous than the parting of seas or healing the blind; they are expressions of a God who delights in being near His people. Recognizing these everyday miracles takes a shift in perspective and a willingness to slow down and notice.

Growing this awareness doesn’t just help us appreciate God’s goodness—it strengthens our faith. The more we recognize His hand in the small things, the more confident we become that He is also at work in the larger challenges we face. My prayer is that these daily reminders of God’s love are seen in your life today and that you are filled with awe and gratitude of God’s miracles.

Blessings,
Jennifer Barmore

Family Promise
We are currently hosting families on campus for Family Promise. There are still many opportunities available to serve! Staying as an overnight host is one of the ways that we could use some help. It is really very easy: bring light bedding and stay on one of our cozy cots from 8:30 pm – 6:30 am. Bringing a breakfast on Saturday morning is also a way you could bless our guests.
If you are interested in volunteering with this ministry, use the button below to sign-up or contact Beth Skeeter or Desiree Trevino for more information.
