We are excited to welcome two new staff members this week!
Katelyn Sanders will join us on June 1st as our new Pastor of Student Ministries. Katelyn has been a part of our congregation for many years and has volunteered in student ministry, children’s ministry, and many other areas. She has always done an exceptional job in any area where she serves, and we are thrilled that God has called her to work full-time in ministry with us. Katelyn will hit the ground running as she takes our junior high and high school students to Camp Quaker Haven starting next week. Once she returns from camp, you can reach Katelyn by phone at the church office or [email protected]. Please pray for God’s blessing on Katelyn as she begins her new role.
Jennifer Barmore ([email protected]) will join our office staff on June 1st to begin training with Joyce Byrne; she will eventually take over the role of church administrator. Jennifer and her family are also actively involved in the church; Jennifer often sings with our worship team on Sunday mornings, and her husband Blake just completed a term as our church treasurer. Plans are for Jennifer to work part time during June and July, and then move to full time on August 1st. Joyce will continue to work full time for about another year, and then at some point in 2024 will probably transition into a part-time role focused primarily on finance.
We hope that you will help to make our new staff members feel welcome, and that you will pray for our entire church staff during this time of major transitions. We look forward to welcoming the Bunce family in July, and Tena Roher will begin her role as Pastor of Children’s Ministry on August 1st.
URGENT: We need one more driver who can help take our students to and from Camp Quaker Haven on June 12-13. You would be a back-up in case the main driver in your rental van needs a break. You would drive up to Kansas the first day, spend one night at the camp, and drive back to Friendswood the following day. Funds would be provided to cover your travel meals. These times at camp are so important for the spiritual formation of our students; please consider helping out. To volunteer or for more information, call the church office.
Dude Camp for 4th and 5th grade students will finish up tomorrow. We have about 130 students, staff members and volunteers at Forest Glen Christian Camp for this event – please pray for God’s blessing on them as they enjoy the last day of camp and travel back to Friendswood tomorrow.
God is the one who saved and called us with a holy calling. This wasn’t based on what we have done, but it was based on his own purpose and grace that he gave us in Christ Jesus before time began. II Timothy 1:9 CEB
